Im not sure if something to be worried about i tried calling my doctor office but havent been able to get a hold of them :( any body else have bad back pain only on one side (please forgive me if this has been discuss already my phone has been crashing all day so it hard to search for other forums)

Re: Back pain only on the right side

  • I have the same pain on my right side. My doctor said it was a muscle or nerve ( I can't remember exactly) but he said it was very common. He recommended putting an ice pack on it and having my husband do a deep tissue rub while I lay over an exercise ball. It has really helped me. He said that if that doesn't work I could go see a chiropractor. I was putting heat on it and that seemed to make it worse. Hope this helps!

  • Could it be a kidney stone or something? Or maybe you pulled a muscle on that side? I hope you get feeling better; I know that sucks. Definitely keep trying the doctor!

  • Is it in your lower back - is it sharp, do you have cramping?  If so, go get checked out, might be an infection.  If not, it's normal pregnancy stuff and get to a chiropractor.

  • I'm not sure where on your back you are getting pain, but I've experienced really low back pain on the right side (almost on my butt cheek) from sciatica. I've also had low back pain (understandable) and mid back pain which is just muscular. I think applying ice and having your husband rub it (or going in for a massage or a soak in a warm tub) will help alleviate the pain. If it's really low make sure you let the doc know so they can test for a UTI, since kidneys are in that region. Good luck!

  • I tried having a warm bath it didnt help sitting the tub only made it hurt more. The pain from my mid back all way to my lower back. Its always there but the odd time it will get really sharp for a few minute then easyup
  • Hmmm, it may be sciatica (which I've had on and off and it SUCKS). I know you've been calling your doctor, but keep at it. They're the only ones who can rule out the UTI or kidney issues.

    Good luck!

  • I have back pain on my right side that seems to go straight into my ribs. I have scoliosis so I am used to the normal back pain. This pain though is terrible and I ended going to the er because of the rib pain associated with it a few weeks ago. They ruled out anything serious and did an ultrasound. The only cause they could come up with was baby is larger than average and had her butt lodged in my ribs, even though I was only around 22 weeks.
Is your pain radiating to your ribs like mine?
  • It not radiating in my ribs. I finally got ahold of my doctor, she gonna test for UTI and kidney infections and do an ultrasound on monday to make sure there nothing going on. Hopefully all goes well! Until then she recommended taking it easy over the next few days.
  • I have mid back on my left side pain.... Sounds very similar to what you're all experiencing as well. I have an appointment on Friday and I'm going to call on Monday to see what they say. My side pain hurts worse when I'm standing or moving. It lessens when I sit or lay. I'm pretty sure it's muscular but I'd like to rule out kidney infection.
  • I had this exact problem, and it was even radiating around to my abdomen/ribs. I saw a chiropractor and after about three visits within a week and a half, I was pain free! I go back once a month for a checkup. My chiro also said seeing a chiro regularly during pregnancy can help with labor. She has been a lifesaver! If you don't find you have a UTI or other internal problem, try a chiro!
  • I have had glute pain on my right side during both of my pregnancies. The chiropractor has helped me become pain free.
