Food Poisoning?

Last night my partner and our friends went to a restaurant last night the cream they gave with the dessert was very, very out of date and I had eaten some it. Took a whiff of it after and it smelled like cheese. Since that, I've been hit with violent sickness and bad diarrhea which has lead to me having to take time off work.

Is my little one at risk of anything or should everything be okay?
I've been worrying myself and I've seen mixed things about the topic.

Re: Food Poisoning?

  • I wish I had advice for you but I'm not sure myself. Do you have a nurses line you can call? The most important thing is to try and stay hydrated. I'm so sorry you are sick that is not fun at all.

  • Yeah, just make sure to stay hydrated. There is also a nasty viral gastroenteritis going around. If it was that, symptoms have been lasting about 24 hours.
  • I got really sick with the Norwalk virus during my first pregnancy and my Dr. said everything would be fine as long as it mostly passed within 24 hours.  He also said it was important to stay hydrated and that if I was unable to keep fluids down at all for longer than 12 hours then it was worth a visit to get some IV fluids.  You'll probably be okay, but it's definitely worth a call to your doctor.
  • I had food poisoning last week. Keep hydrated and as long as you start to feel better quickly you should be ok. If you don't get better quickly or can't keep anything down call the doctor. I thought I was actually getting morning sickness until my husband was ill and then we realised it was something we ate.

  • Make sure you stay hydrated and if you need to, please call your doctor. Feel better soon!
  • I caught a stomach virus during my third pregnancy. My midwife said the baby would be perfectly fine, and the most important thing was for me to stay hydrated (like everyone else is saying!) She recommended popsicles, if I couldn't keep anything liquid down.

  • I was just really sick for a full week...It was either from rare steak that I ate without thinking, or a virus. Either way, doctor told me the most important thing to do is stay very hydrated, at least 64 oz of fluid a day. And to go to the ER if I wasn't peeing at least 3 times a day. Hang in there, I know how much it sucks!
  • I caught salmonella with my first pregnancy. I had the runs and vomiting at the same time. Very high temperature and couldn't keep water down. I had to go to the hospital and they hooked me up to an IV and gave me antibiotics for a week or so. I was in the hospital 3 days.
I was 13 weeks at the time. But luckily everything turned out fine.
    Good luck
