  • I gave my 15 weeks old a few small spoons of cereal yesterday, but he wasn't really into it. so I just put it in his bottle as usual. Pedi is OK with it, I did the same with my fist and she was fine
  • Definitely consult with your pediatrician. Per my pedi's instruction I waited until 6 months to introduce any solids with my first and plan to do the same with this LO.
  • I agree with above to talk to your doctor.  But I would think it is too early. With my first daughter we were excited to give it a try so we started at 4 months.  I think I will wait for 6 months with this one.

  • Talk to your Pedi. Ours has us starting 1 oz a day at 18 weeks old, but not every pedi is ok with that, and your Pedi knows your LO better than we do and can give the best advice.

  • We'll be waiting until 6 months + good enough body/head control that he can sit up because we do finger foods from the start with our kids.

Our pedi also said 6 months this time, 5 years ago a different one told me 4 months.

  • We tried rice cereal and my guy wasn't a fan. I think we may pass in general. He's happy enough with his milk.
  • I'm just trying the rice cerial in Brest milk :) I'm gonna wait till 6 months for food that's what pedi said :)
  • My LO is almost 4 months and I started last week giving him small amounts once a day. He has reflux pretty bad and eats 7 oz of breast milk every 3 hours or less. He loves eating rice cereal and I've tried bananas and carrots which he also loved. It was recommended by our pedi due to the reflux.
  • We just got back from the Pedi for LO's 4 month check up and she said for sure give him rice cereal and once he gets the hang of the spoon, give him beggies and fruits, we were told no honey and no chunks but that if he is interested in food then go right ahead.
  • Hubby jumped the gun and started adding rice cereal to his bottles at 3.5 months. Since then we have given him "soupy" mixtures of rice and oatmeal cereal. It's only a few teaspoons and we give it to him in addition to his bottle. He honestly took to it very well. No constipation or anything abnormal. Our pediatrician also recommended to wait until 6 months but we have pretty much come to an agreement that we will continue feeding him the cereals. He is approaching 5 months now and when that happens I would like to experiment giving him a teaspoon of mashed sweet potatoes. It's up to you ultimately and it is definitely case by case basis. What worked for us may not work for you. Anyways, good luck.
  • Oh and BTW he only gets one feeding of solids per day and as stated just a few teaspoons :).
  • My son's pediatrician has him on solids now at 4 months, I'll post a picture of the feeding schedule she gave us.
  • We have skipped rice cereal besides maybe for the first week or two with my first two. We also have had to wait till just at about six months, it was just so less frustrating as they would push most of it back out with their tongues since they weren't ready. Besides. I get my period back once solids are introduced, I'll let that stay away another couple months!
