Mid-cycle u/s and BD

We are starting a second medicated IUI this week and I'm taking Letrozole and Ovidrel. We've been told to BD the day before my mid-cycle u/s. Does anyone know why? There's already so much stress on BDing during a cycle and we weren't able to last month. :-(

    Hi, I just finished my 2nd iui w/ letrozol and Ovidrel also. In my experience I have always gone in 1-2 days after u/s for the iui. My RE told us not to BD the day before Bc it can lower sperm count, however sperm can live up to 5 days in the female so that's my guess as to why- they want you to have the best chance (the more Sperm the better!) and also if you ovulate early you already have some swimmers in place.     I was told same thing not before and to also do it the night of the iui and the days following like 2-3
