For those of you who have been diagnosed with placenta praevia and already had a follow up ultrasound--how did that go? Was it abdominal, TV, or both? Did you get another chance to see your baby or was it just a quick placenta check?
I'm just curious because I fell down a flight of stairs yesterday (24w1d). My OB's office knows about it but since I don't have any bleeding or decreased fetal movement they said I don't need to be seen until my next regular appointment on the 21st. My follow up ultrasound to check on my placenta is on the 17th. I know it doesn't make a lot of sense because I can feel him in there active as always, but it would certainly make me feel better to see him again. Should I let the ultrasound technician know about the fall or do they even care? Or do you think it would be in my chart already?
Re: Placenta Praevia follow up U/S question
They didn't flinch at offering the ultrasound whatsoever, but your doctor may not be offering one since you have the regular movement and insurance would likely not cover it. At least that's what I'm guessing. I know my medical insurance didn't cover my ultrasound in my doctor's office but would have if I'd gone to the ER and gotten one. Of course, the other guy's auto insurance paid for it since he was totally at fault so it didn't matter.
Are you the one who posted about this in another thread and said you thought you'd broken your pinky, too? I'm bad with usernames unless I've seen them a ton. Anyway, I hope you keep feeling ok and that your previa is gone at your next scan! Your little one's movement staying regular is great! They are very well protected in there, but I understand that you still can't help but worry.
It's probably not necessary to mention your fall to ultrasound technician unless you feel more comfortable and want to. You're not bleeding and feeling normal movements so sounds like baby is fine. Doctor seems to think so. Try not to get yourself too upset. I've managed to have little falls with all my pregnancies. They are well protected in there.
I always get to see the baby and get pictures with my ultrasounds. I'm sure when you get your next ultrasound you will to.
And, yes that was me in the WTF Wednesday thread. Thanks for the well wishes. I'm just glad all I got out of the fall was a broken finger and some bruising. Could have been much worse!
