Birth Center Appointment

I have an appointment this morning to interview a midwife and check out a local birthing center. They do home births as well. My husband and I want a home birth, but there are a lot of factors that may make the birth center a more financially responsible decision. I am just exploring all options. I am nervous, excited, scared, everything!

  • I hope you liked it! We did a tour of our birth center last night and loved the atmosphere, the knowledge and stats. Definitely delivering there as long as I stay low risk!

  • I wish you luck with the birth center. My last two pregnancies (and mc's) were with midwives at birth centers and each place left me unsatisfied with the care I received post mc. No one had any interest in helping me get to the bottom of my problems (they were also my gynecologists) I wanted so bad to have a natural birth, but it looks like that may not be in the cards for me now that I am high risk.
  • @amccul20 thanks for asking! It went great. I liked the center, but both my husband and I feel really strongly that home birth is the path we want to take. The center is super supportive and I would be able to use the same MW either way. There are lots of things I liked about the center itself- I would have a team of 3 MW's with one primary, I would get care for myself and baby for 6 weeks postpartum (no ped visits till after that) etc etc.
