50 times a night

Ok it might not be that much, but it's a lot. To start off, my girl is a horrible sleeper. She gets it from me. She fights her sleep even when being held. When she first came home she had to be held the entire night. Although she would sometimes let me put her down for naps.

She still wakes up to breastfeed in the night. It started off being a lot and then we got down to twice a night. Once she hit 3 1/2 months her sleep regression started. It was worse but not super bad. Then she got an ear infection and her sleeping became even more horrible. Now her ear infection is hopefully gone (dr appt in a week), and she is still waking up every two hours. I'm so tired and it takes me a while to fall back asleep.

Do you think she is still having her sleep regression? I try to get her to fall asleep by rocking her but she cries and fights it and wants to eat, plus I'm so tired, that I quickly give up.

I think so, my son also, and I know other mammas are still going throu the regression. Just hang in there mama!! Our babies are growing so quickly and from what I hear our little ones will grow out of this sleep regression. Just be patient remember she doesn't know what is going on with her so she cries and communicates that way. What has worked with my son is I walk around in the house and put a worship song on (you can put a slow song, he just really likes that song) it takes a few minutes but when I look back down he is sound asleep!! Good luck mama!!

  • Also teething can also affect their sleep. I know it's a affecting my son and he cries every time I try to rock him to sleep. But like I said soon they will have their first tooth and this uncomfortation will go away!
  • Thank you. Hopefully if it is the regression it'll end soon. She actually already has two teeth and didn't change her sleep too much. I'm really hoping her ear infection is actually over.
  • My daughter got sick right when her sleep regression started. She had a terrible time getting her to sleep and then trying to get her to stay asleep. I would finally give in to nurse her but could tell it was just for comfort and not because she was hungry. Anyway once she got better her sleep was still terrible, I don't know if it was because after just being sick she was use to being up often and feeding or the regression just being intense. I stayed strong to creating a sleep routine (read her a book in a quiet room, bath, rocking in the rocking chair while before bed feed) and within a week we were down to her waking up 2-3 times, another week and we are now only having to get up once at 2 a.m. Moral of the story is it does, or can get better! Ear infections are hard tho, laying flat makes it more painful-maybe try slightly raising the mattress in the crib by placing a light blanket or thin book UNDER the mattress at the end where your LO head is to give a slight incline? When my DD was sick she had a sore throat and laying flat seemed to make it worse, creating a slight incline seemed to help.
