Trying to Get Pregnant

Flu shot and temping

I'm on CD 12 with no ovulation signs-- but had a huge (like 1.5 degree) temp rise today, which is a larger temp rise than I've ever had. I got my flu shot yesterday, though. Is this common after a flu shot and should I just discard the temp in FF?

Re: Flu shot and temping

  • Don't discard until you have a few more temps and you can tell if one temp is throwing off your chart. One high temp should not affect your cross hairs any way. Just leave it.

  • That's a good plan, thanks. I was just so shocked when I saw it this morning and hoping it didn't indicate ovulation as we've only been BD every three days or so, waiting for more fertility signs.

Every three days is probably enough anyway. The best day to hit us either one day or two days before ovulation. So you would probably get that anyway. It's not the frequency, it's the timing that gets you pregnant. :)

  • You're right. I know you're right. This whole process can make a person a little nutty!

  • I agree with what PP said. See what happens with you next few temps. Getting a flu shot can definitely cause your temp to rise, so just make a note in your chart and see what happens! When in doubt HIO.

  • That's good to know! I'm going to try not to think about it until I see what the next couple days do. Thanks!

  • I got my flu shot last cycle and it did nothing weird at all to my temps, but since they are injecting you with the flu virus, a temp spike from it makes sense. As PP said, just keep HIO :)
