Repeat C-section, letting myself go into labor?

Hi Mommas. I'm having a repeat c section in December because of complications with my first birth. My Dr. Wants me to schedule the C section but i would be way more comfortable letting my body and the baby tell me when he's ready to come out vs. pulling him before he's ready. I mean with my first i was in labor for 30 hours before the surgery so the wait i figure what is a couple hours? Thoughts?

  • For what it is worth, my OB said it is way less painful on you to have a scheduled without labor. I agree with what you are saying--have the baby be ready to be born, but a faster recovery may trump that so that you can take care of both children!

  • My doctor explained the risk of uterine rupture and I decided to go ahead and schedule.
  • I had a uterine rupture along my cesarean scar. Granted I'd been in pre-term labor (managed) for weeks, but the scar wore down. Fortunately I happened to be on the operating table being opened for the cesarean when it ruptured so I'm still here to write about it.

Hard labor contractions can really do a number on your weakened uterine tissue. Your doctor wants to reduce the risk to you and your baby.

  • Maybe have it scheduled on your due date instead of 39wks? I had my 3rd cection scheduled for 40wk2days. I started early labor about 6hrs before so it was perfect timing.
