Excited and nervous

Today at 10am, I have a Drs appointment where I'll finally get to hear my little ones heartbeat! So far I haven't heard or seen anything, because this is how my Drs office works, Doppler around 13 weeks then first ultrasound at for the anatomy scan. I nervous because I'm a FTM, and this is more of a real confirmation that there really is a baby in there! And excited for obvious reason! Eek!

Thanks ladies! I was amazed to hear it! But, more amazed that my doctor thinks I'm 18 weeks, instead if the 13 weeks, I thought I was according to my last period! I'm so shocked and confused! We have an ultrasound appointment for next Thursday, either we find out the gender or we get a more definite due date. Ahh, how can I wait that long?!

We're you measuring big? That's a pretty big disparity. Does your doc suspect multiples?

Yeah, she felt my uterus outside first and was like "I think you're further along than you think" and said that its right above my belly button and then she felt inside and was like "yeah, I think you feel like 18 weeks" and I was like how is that possible?! And when she checked the heartbeat she found it up higher. So I don't know! I'm so mind boggled! I don't have twins in the family, expect my cousins wife who had fraternal twins, but I mean as my mom says, history of multiples has to start somewhere, we'll find out next week. I did have a period at the beginning of Sept, which is what's so confusing..

It's so difficult waiting. I'm having my first scan at 12 weeks next week. I know what you mean about not even knowing if there is a baby in there. It's kind of irritating when you get women on here complaining about not being able to see their babies enough when they have already had several scans...lol. Personally, I think your doc is wrong and you should go with your dates. Would love an update after your ultrasound. Hope it all goes well.

Holy Moly! Great news all around it sounds like!! :-)

I can't believe you guys are able to wait so long for your first scan without losing your minds!!! My doc ordered an 8wk US (transvaginal) for dating where I saw the baby and heard a heartbeat, and then a 12 wk scan for the NT test. Now my next one is at 20 wks. I think the 8 wk dating scan would really help folks know how far along they actually are so they can plan accordingly and do certain scans and tests within their appropriate time window if they choose to.

I agree @ishamah I think everyone should get a dating scan! Would set minds at ease, especially for ftm's, I just wanna see the little thing! I was happy to hear the heartbeat, that helped put things at ease!

My doctor was the same way....since I'm not high risk and I knew the exact date of my LMP, they didn't do any scan. I just heard the heartbeat for the first time at 13 weeks, and won't get an ultrasound until 20 weeks. It did feel like I was pretending to be pregnant all these weeks...but now it feels so much more real that I actually heard my little peanut! Thoughts and prayers for all you mommas waiting for weeks and weeks to hear and see baby! It's so worth the wait!
