Baby won't nap in crib

My LO is 10 weeks right now. She sleeps great in her crib at night (anywhere between a 6-8 stretch then usually another 3-4) but I can't seem to get her to sleep longer than 15 minutes at a time for naps during the day. I've tried making the room darker, noise machine, swaddling and putting a heating pad down ahead of time. All the things that we do at night. I let her lay in there during the day sometimes so she's used to it, though maybe I could do it more often? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • I have always had the same problem. We gave up and she naps in pack and play or swing.

  • We bought Baby Merlins Magic Sleepsuit and it has worked wonders for my LO. He was a somewhat poor sleeper at night, but naps in particular were a nightmare. He would only nap in my arms for 45 mins max if he napped at all, and 25 mins in the crib if I was extremely lucky! The first day we had the suit he napped 2.5 hrs straight in the crib and has been doing it consistently ever since. He is also now sleeping 6-8 hr stretches at night on a fairly consistent basis. I'd recommend looking into it if nothing else is working!
  • @Kelliek327 how old is your LO now and how old was he when you started the sleep suit with those fantastic naps!?! Mine is the same with napping, we can get 30-40 mins in the bouncy seat or mamaroo, 1 hour if holding and standing! She sleeps great at night in her rnp, but I want to move her to the crib soon for nighttime. Just bought a crib wedge and I'm going to have her spend some more awake time as well as a nap in the crib.
  • @Sully3302 We started him at 9 weeks and he is 10.5 wks now. The smallest size the suit comes in is 3-6 months (12-18lbs) but we have a big baby- 13lbs 13oz at 8 weeks so the suit fits him pretty well. The suit is $40, so a little expensive, but if you've tried everything else and it doesn't seem to be working, I would give it a shot! There are tons of positive reviews on Amazon and online, so while the suit doesn't work for every baby, it seems to work for most!
  • I have this same problem! Still trying things. So far the only thing I have found that helps is making a nest of blankets and putting her in that. I know that's frowned upon but she needs to feel like I'm still holding her or she is in the swing still. Sometimes I can trick her and she sleeps there.
  • Thanks ladies! I've heard lots of good things about the sleep suit so I may be looking into trying that very soon.
  • @rachellegiacco how do you make the best of blankets? Under the crib sheet?
  • I would love to see a photo of how the crib looks during the transition. Blanket under the crib sheet? Some have mentioned a pillow on one end for some incline? Any tips and photos would help me when I try to transition this weekend. Thanks!
