Not so early on nausea...

I haven't had much morning sickness my entire pregnancy but this week (I'm just about to hit 11 weeks tomorrow) I have been gagging up a storm. Usually in the evening it's worse. People driving next to me probably think I'm about to upchuck. Anyway, anyone know if nausea later on is normal?

Re: Not so early on nausea...

  • I seem to remember with my last pregnancy it was at its worst around 11-13 weeks. This time has been totally different - I started getting sick at 5 weeks, ugh! I think there's a big variation of normal!

  • I guess I'll just call it normal then lol.

I probably can't offer much expertise on the subject of MS or nausea, since it's been practically non-existent in my pregnancy thus far. However, I will say that nausea and/or morning sickness is probably normal at any point in your pregnancy. Some women have it from the very beginning all the way up until baby is born. Some only have it for a few weeks. Others don't experience it at all. Every woman and every pregnancy is different!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but
  • My mom had this with all 4 pregnancies. I haven't had any real morning sickness yet, but have been waiting for the other shoe to drop. I think she said she normally had it between 15-18 wks.

  • I've had ms off and on throughout this pregnancy but middle of last week and so far this week it feels more intense then it has so far. I'm 11 weeks today. I was hoping by this point it would be dying down, but having it flare right back up sucked a little. On the other side, I keep seeing it as a pregnancy symptom which makes me think I'm still pregnant which makes me think baby is still in there and growing. So as much as I don't like the nausea and throwing up in my mouth, I can accept it if it might mean baby is OK.

I wonder if it could have anything to do with hormones shifting again as the placenta starts to take over more and more?
  • Yeah, I had like zero nausea/MS and then I hit the middle of my tenth week and I've thrown up once every morning. It's not bad by any means, but I definitely wasn't expecting it to get worse as I progressed in my pregnancy. I had an appointment today and my baby is fine - so I'm gonna go out in a limb here and say it's pretty normal. Still hoping it goes away soon, though!
  • Ahhh! I'm with you! I haven't felt AMAZING, but I haven't felt awful either. Yesterday I had my energy back, no nausea, and I was a happy camper! I am 10.5 weeks. Today from the moment I got up, I have been miserable. I keep gagging and feel the same way (people must think I'm hungover!?) since we don't LOOK pregnant
  • Yes, it's normal.
  • I didn't have any nausea/sickness during my first two pregnancies. Up until a few days ago I was fine with this one too but now (10 weeks today) I feel awful. I just got a pack of ginger ale and it is helping quite a bit. I guess it can start any time.

  • I've had nausea from weeks 6-11 and it started to fade this week. Today, 12 weeks 3 days, I just threw up for the first time. What the ..?
  • I've been lucky enough to avoid any real consistent MS but I still get queasy at random times. Everytime I get a headache here lately I wind up puking every 30-45 minutes until it's kicked and just yesterday at lunch I was eating a cutie and got a random seed in my mouth (since when do cuties even have freaking seeds?!) and seriously almost hurled.

  • Yes that is how I feel! Glad to know I'm not alone. Knowing I'm feeling sick is reassurance that baby b is growing so it makes me feel mentally better thinking that :-)
  • Mine went away at 10 weeks, came back just before 11 with a vengeance.  It did a similar thing with my daughter so I wonder if there's some biological reason...
  • I haven't had MS...sometimes I get nauseous but nothing horrible!  The last week pretty much every time I brush my teeth I gag and throw up a little.  I think it might be time to try a new flavor :)

  • I have been fine all pregnancy so far. But within the last week and a half, I've been getting crazy food aversions and cravings. Some smells make me ill, too. I'm 13 weeks tomorrow.
  • I'm 14 weeks today and this morning I had my first morning sickness experience of this pregnancy. I've been on and off nauseous all day. I'm so sad this is happening now.
  • With my twins I was sick from 4-24 weeks and 28-33 weeks when I delivered. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason when it happens. From what I've been reading it sounds like 11 weeks is a hard one for many with MS. It was definitely a rough one for me this pregnancy, thankfully with my miracle prescription I got through it and am starting to see some hope at almost 15 weeks. I'm hoping since there is only one baby in there this time the vomiting will not last the whole pregnancy, fingers crossed! Hope you feel better soon!
  • Thank you so much for this thread! I'm almost 14 weeks and hadn't had any ms/nausea and boom! Today I've felt queasy all day. I thought I was actually sick and now I'm realizing it's just a pregnancy symptom. Hope you all feel better soon!
  • Like PPs said, even every pregnancy can differ. With my first, I was sick weeks 5-11. With this one, I've been sick since 6 weeks. Now 15 weeks and no end in sight. Finally broke down and got some zofran just to be able to function at my job.
