38 weeks and just found out baby is breech!

I went in today at 38 weeks and my doctor just now was concerned about position of baby and did an ultrasound. Of course, she is breech! I feel like the version seems to post risks and doesn't exactly sound too pleasant. So my options are running short and I need to decide quickly! I would prefer of course to not have a c section, which would be scheduled for exactly a week from today. Has anyone in the past tried acupuncture to flip their baby? Any advice is appreciated

  • There are dozens of threads about breech babies and flipping babies. Try the search function. Good luck!

  • Search ECV or external version, there's been a lot of posts on the topic lately with tons of feedback
  • I haven't tried it because my baby isn't breech, but I've been going to acupuncture to conceive and for my entire pregnancy and she said there are things she can try to flip a breech baby. If you do decide to go the acupuncture route make sure you find someone experienced in dealing with pregnancy. I think it's probably one of the safer things to try and it can also help with relaxation (as long as a few needles don't stress you out)

  • Supposedly the position of all fours helps flip baby and walking alot said my midwife
  • Lots of posts on this recently where you might get better answers. But a woman in my prenatal yoga class was able to flip hers using some different yoga poses and inversions.
  • Did your doctor have any recommendations?  The previous threads mentioned a website called spinning babies or something like that.
  • From reading the other threads over the past month or two--I think most of the less medical methods for spinning or flipping babies are supposed to be most successful at 35-36 weeks. It may be worth letting your doctor do the version since you are already at 38 weeks. Did the baby recently go breech or is the first time they looked?
  • Thank you for all your advice!
My doctor has only ever said "I think she is head down." In the past. I was quite disappointed that she now decided to check and confirm. I have looked on other threads and done some research but everyone else seems to be 35 weeks. With being 38 I was wondering if acupuncture would even be effective after a one time use since im on quite the time limit.
    Again thank you all!

Yes, with how far along you are, if *I* were you I would definitely schedule a version ASAP as that is not only the medically proven method to work but your baby really doesn't have much room to move on her own which the other methods supposedly help with. Of course it's not impossible, people say all the time that their baby flipped the last week, but statistically the chances of that happening are pretty low.
Versions are performed btwn 37-38 weeks because IF it does put any stress on the baby they can immediately do a c section since the babe is full term and will be healthy. I will be 37 weeks this weekend and have a version scheduled for Monday as my last ditch effort because I've tried everything else...if it doesn't work than c section it is anyways!
