So I saw this video on Facebook. Has anyone/mommies tried it? Any results?

I would be so scared my child would be crying wildly then I'd drop him

It's ok to click it, I promise :) not spam or virus or anything (although saying that makes it sound like spam lol)

Re: How to calm a crying baby every time

  • I've never used this trick, but nursing was our go to calmer. Works like a charm to this day, and our daughter is 17 months old.

  • We did an altered version. I didn't hold DD as far away. However, I am a firm believer in all babies being different in what works for them. Not to be a preacher (lol) but babies need to cry to strengthen their lungs, tell you their hungry, cold, etc. Colic is a whole other animal. Colic is straight from the pits of hell. Nothing but few things (different for everyone) work on colic. Sometimes that method (from the video) wouldn't work either.

  • I liked when the dr made the baby "twerk". Very soothing ;)

  • @tgortney Neat. Thanks for sharing that vid. I'm a FTM so it may be something to try. :-)
  • We never held DS out like that, but did a bouncing on the knee version that was closer to our bodies. Not exactly like this though. It makes sense, the posture and wiggling help to relieve upper and lower gas, which is probably one of the reasons it works. Bouncing/swaying/rhythmic shushing are just generally calming too.

@araecasey once DS got the hang of nursing, we used that as a calmer too-- it worked instantly and was great for vaccines/blood draw cries! That was one of the hardest parts about my milk changing when he was 19mo (I was around 14 weeks); DS would want emergency-make-it-better-milk and there wouldn't be anything there for him. He has adjusted this month and settles quickly now for a hug and a kiss.
  • Cool video. Hope that trick can work for me! How easy. But like others said all babies are different. Trial and error. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that works. Oh and seeing those cute little babies made me wish these next few months would fly by!
  • I'm a first time mom... and my brother was actually the one to send me this video. Guess he is excited to be an uncle and just trying to help out :)
  • I saw this yesterday and also laughed when he made the baby twerk.
  • I love this! I'm so going to try it. I would just be worried about the baby getting cold. I suppose as long as they are in a cozy onesie it'll still work.
