I used a regular bassinet last time and remember it being very painful after my C-section to get out of bed to care for my newborn.
This time, the Halo Bassinest topped my wish list.
It's kind of a cross between the two different types of bassinets that you mentioned in your post. It is like a standard bassinet in that it can stand alone next to the bed, reducing your fear that you or hubby will roll over onto the baby. But, when baby cries, it has a 360 degree swivel action and height adjustment that allows you to swivel it over the bed (think hospital tray) and you can push the front side down to be able to easily pull baby out without having to sit all the way up in bed (after my csection, sitting up from a laying position was the hardest part because my stomach muscles were trashed).
