Thoughts on bassinet?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone had opinions/advice to give on a regular bassinet vs. a bassinet that goes between you and your SO in the bed? DH and I are debating on getting one of those that go in between us because we have a very large bed and it looks so nice to have her right there for those early am feedings. Has anyone used one and what was your experience? Thanks in advance for your input!

We had a regular bassinet our son wouldn't sleep in so we got a snuggle nest to go in our bed and that worked great. What will work for you will just depend on what your baby prefers honestly. We eventually got rid of the snuggle nest and bed-shared which worked fantastic for middle of the night feedings.Happy Birthday Month to Me!

It really depends on the baby. My DD would have hated that. She always wanted to be I her own space and bed from day one. She would always fuss after a feeding and happily quiet right down as soon as she was back in her own bassinet or crib. Now this baby might be totally different. She might need that extra closeness and snuggles. Who knows lol -

I think a lot of it has to do with 1) the baby's personality and 2) how long you plan to keep them in it. We used a regular bassinet with both kids. He was a good sleeper and it worked out well. DD was very restless and I ended up moving the bassinet clear across the room because she would wake us up all night tossing and turning. Also, if you plan to keep them in it for a bit, it seems like they would grow out of the bed one earlier. -

I'm way too scared of using the in-bed sleepers. I'd be afraid I'd roll over on her or, like the other poster mentioned, accidentally toss a blanket or a pillow over her. Not worth the risk in my opinion. But I know many love it!We got a beside the bed bassinet that has wheels and can be moved to the living room for day naps also. -

I thought about it, but our bed was too small and I worried about H. Mommy instinct is different than daddy. I would sleep for a few hours with DD next to me and not move an inch in my sleep (normally I toss and turn).
If you want LO close, I'd recommend an Arm's Reach cosleeper or side car the crib. Otherwise, a bassinet, pack n play with the elevated bassinet mattress, rock n play, etc would be fine.

I used a regular bassinet last time and remember it being very painful after my C-section to get out of bed to care for my newborn.
This time, the Halo Bassinest topped my wish list.
It's kind of a cross between the two different types of bassinets that you mentioned in your post. It is like a standard bassinet in that it can stand alone next to the bed, reducing your fear that you or hubby will roll over onto the baby. But, when baby cries, it has a 360 degree swivel action and height adjustment that allows you to swivel it over the bed (think hospital tray) and you can push the front side down to be able to easily pull baby out without having to sit all the way up in bed (after my csection, sitting up from a laying position was the hardest part because my stomach muscles were trashed).

I'm not planning to cosleep, but still got one of the cosleeping baskets. I plan to keep it on the floor, and move it around the house while I am doing stuff. I decided this partly because it was a quarter of the price of a bassinet, partly because my husband's family raised him in a laundry basket, and swares by it.
