Hello future mommies!
Just so you know I am a first time mom. I wanted to see how many of you have looked into the FMLA for California. I am currently 14wks and have been Googling as much as possible to see what I can find. So, far there has been contradicting information. I know Maternity leave is different for every company. I also know as a CA resident we are entitled to up to 12wks partial paid time off with the LO. My job offers 4wks paid time off with full salary, which is great! My last job did not offer any paid time off and I would have been forced to except the FMLA as my only source of income until I returned to work.
I want to know what your plans are for maternity leave.
Are going to be using FMLA only?
Does your job offer paid time off for maternity leave?
Will you be using FMLA and your companies paid time off?
Also, do any of you know what the amount of FMLA pay we are entitled to in CA?
I hope you all have a great Tuesday!
Re: Family Medical Leave Act - CA residents
Once disability runs out CFRA kicks in. This is unpaid but its an additional 12 weeks (I think 12) of protected leave. This all runs concurrent with FMLA.
I gave birth Dec. 17 and would have had till mid April off (I didn't return). I'm not sure how company paid leave fits into everything. Your HR dept should be able to assist you.
ETA: clarity
SO needless to say I am saying my time like crazy to hopefully cover as much of the 12 weeks as I possibly can because taking the "leave no pay" is not an option for me and DH. 12 weeks is a crap load of time to save so I may not be able to use the entire 12 weeks as I want to.
I am super thankful for the FMLA, because it protects us and ensures our management follows the laws.
