Told Family, Heard Heartbeat!

I am just so excited and had to share! We told my in-laws and my immediate family that we are expecting at Thanksgiving this past week. We surprised my in-laws by relabeling a sparkling juice bottle with our announcement. As DH handed it to them, he said we found a new wine we wanted to try with dinner. His mom was in shock and handed the bottle to his dad who never is really emotional and he freaked out. Then MIL starting jumping up in down. It was awesome!!

We also told my family this weekend as I hosted Thanksgiving on Saturday. I recruited my niece to draw a picture of DH, myself, a baby, and our puppy on the front of a card and I printed the ultrasound on the inside. She did a fantastic job! I had her give it to my mom and say, "Grandma, I made you a card." Mom asked her what the baby was and who the people were, figured it was me and my DH, then opened it, jaw dropped, and mouthed to me "are you pregnant?" with eyes wide open. It was perfect and I managed to record it steathily on my phone. It fees so good to be able to talk to my family about it all now. Mom even offered tonight to help us with childcare, hallelujah!

And on top if it all, we had our consult with our high risk doc today. He was confident that my MTHFR was under control with my current l-methylfolate regimen. Then we met with my regular OB and she used the doppler. We were able to hear LO's heartbeat for the first time. I'm 11w 5d, so she said we may or may not be able to find/hear it yet, but she did! Beating away at a rapid 161 BPM. I feel so much better that things are progressing well with this pregnancy. As a FTM being told I'm high risk, I've been so nervous to tell anyone or to get my hopes up. I feel like I can breathe a huge sigh of relief now. Next checkup in 4 weeks and will get the 16 week genetic screening. Going for this one over the 12 week so we can check for spina bifida, a concern with MTHFR. But I'm feeling good!
