Overnight diapers

Since my daughter has started rolling over she has been a belly sleeper. Problem is she wakes up with her belly covered in pee. She sleeps about 12 hours and when she was on her back we never had leakage... I feel like being on her belly traps the pee as the back of the diaper is basically dry in the morning. We are using a Pampers baby dry. Anyone have a different diaper that helped this problem or other tricks? Thanks!

We use baby dry also, she wears a size 2 during the day but I moved her up to a size 3 at night for the greater absorbance since mine sleeps 11+hours. Eta, I picked this trick up when someone suggested it to my sil to try on her daughter for diaper leak. So seems to help a lot of people.

  • I wish the size up worked for us we did go from 2 to 3 (should have mentioned that in original post). Thanks for answering !
  • I use pampers swaddlers and it has only happened twice at night but I've noticed it happens when I go up a size.
  • @n3na94 I was thinking maybe it was too big, but I really don't think that is it. I more think it's gravity and her body weight keeping the pee from traveling backwards. I'm going to try a double diaper tonight as her belly diaper rash is back, gr!!

I hope it gets better!! And maybe you could try different diapers brands, maybe cruisers from pampers. I hope everything works out. Keep us updated please!
  • Thanks so much I will!
  • I switched from pampers to huggies because LO would pee through at night. So far we haven't had a problem. A friend of mine swears by Luvs for no leaks but I haven't tried them. They were my plan B.

I might just try pampers swaddlers during the day and try huggies for night time! Thanks for the info!
  • I have the same thing happening with my little boy. The front of the diaper will be full and the back is dry, but I haven't gotten but 1 leak with Luvs. I haven't tried Pampers yet. I tried Huggies and they leaked. He is also on his belly to sleep anywhere from 8-9 hours a night before I change him.
  • Same thing happened with my DD! She slept on her tummy and woke up soaking wet. I thought it was sweat at first but then realized it was pee. I too was wondering how to avoid the leakage. I use pampers swaddlers too so maybe we will try a different brand for overnight
  • @rebeccad7 me to the first night, how funny? A few friends who use pampers during day say the Huggies overnight are much better- they are bringing me one to work tomorrow to try if it works I will report back. I think it may just be trial and error until we find what works right for our child
  • @samfein we had that problem too, until I switched to Pampers baby dry Extra Protection. I had never seen them before, but we found them at Babies R Us. My boy was leaking through regular pampers baby dry, but these have no leaks so far for my tummy sleeper!

    Good luck!
  • Update! We tried doubling up a diaper (one swaddled and one pamper baby dry) and it was a HUGE fail. We decided to chance waking her to flip her to her back before we go to sleep and it has worked wonders. She only stays on her back for an hour or 2, but it seems to be enough time to help the pee distribute more evenly. I wouldn't recommend if you baby is not a sound sleeper, but ours is and she stirs for a minute or so after and then is back to sleep!
  • My LO is still a back sleeper and we use Luvs, 2 nights ago he leaked. We have previously used huggies just at night and they seam to hold up better
  • I use huggies. Pampers for some reason he always leaked through. Now we only have problems with leakage if he sleeps on his side for a long period which is rarely. We've never had problems with him leaking through on back or tummy. Every baby is different just have to keep trying different ones till you find what works best for your LO at night.
  • I feel it is all trial and error for each child as PP has said. Our tummy sleeper has been waking up soaked as well using BJ's brand so I got pampers for nighttime. Well, I have found the generic are crummy during the day too so use up that jumbo box and stick with Pampers.
  • I just bought pampers baby dry overnight and they work great for my LO
