Babies on the Brain

prego symptoms with an IUD

I have had an IUD for over a year now and had one for 3 years before my last 2 children. (i took it out to concieve and got a new one after the last baby ) I never had a problem with it before and missing periods is not uncommon for me for one month or so. However it is now november and the last time i even spotted was mid August. I wouldn't be concerned but i am also having multiple other pregnancy symptoms : Extremely tired , missed periods, sore and tender breasts, increased urination, thirsty all the time , the thought of brownies makes my mouth water, random mood swings and everything makes me want to cry, Head aches, hot flashes, the feeling of very early "Baby Flutters" and then this morning i found out i am starting to produce colostrum (sp?) I am extremely confused because i took a home pregnancy test last week that was negative and as far as i know i still have a IUD

Any help?

My logical part of my brain says the test was negative and i have an IUD and i am just crazy,  but then the other part of my brain says there is still a possibility because all the other symtoms are there and i just have the overwhelming "knowing" (for lack of a better word) that i am

Re: prego symptoms with an IUD

  • to clarify. this was not to ask "AM I pregnant" i was trying to see if anyone else had this  kind of issue where they got pregnant while having an IUD or had the symptoms and what the outcome was.

  • I had an IUD and did not experience this! I would make an appointment with your doctor. They will do an ultrasound to make sure the IUD is still in.
  • So I am experiencing the same symptoms and a few others and am thinking I am going to get the iud removed and get an appointment with my doctor to explain the increase in symptoms. Good luck to you!

I got the Mirena and then I wasn't having a period, just spotted a couple times and thought this thing is awesome! Then a couple months later I was having all sorts of preg symptoms but my friends who got the Mirena said that was common. After I couldn't shake the nausea for a few days I finally took a test to confirm I was just being crazy lol. And of course I was actually pregnant. So um yeah, take another test or go see the doc :) My baby #4 is an IUD baby :)
