STMs: childbirth course experience?

Hi moms! I've looked at recent threads regarding childbirthing courses, but I'm really looking for some feedback from anyone who may have completed a course.
Specifically, I was considering the Bradley method course. My only dilemma is that I will have about a 40 min drive one way (over a mountain) to get to the once a week course. Is it generally necessary for your spouse to attend with you? What did your spouse think of the course? Overall, if you took it this ccourse what was your impression? If I decide against this, I know there is a Hypnobabies home study course...
Thanks gals for any feedback!!

Re: STMs: childbirth course experience?

  • There was a thread about this last week: https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12646359/birthing-classes-and-the-like#latest

However, in relation to your question on the Bradley Method. I want to use the Bradley Method for this birthing experience myself. There is one coach in my area who does a once a week 12 week course. It is strongly recommended your spouse or birthing coach attend all the classes with you. This is not feasible for us due to my DH's soccer schedule, and then on top of it the course itself is $350. Honestly, its not a bad price but its really more than I can convince DH of right now because he's kinda wishy washy about the whole thing. I instead purchased the Bradley Method textbook off Amazon and am reading through it and will have DH do the same. We will then practice the techniques together at home. I have so far read through the first few chapters of simply the birthing experience and it made me feel super empowered on what our body's have been made to do. It also started giving me confidence that I can do it natraully, all with DH's support of course. We'll see what happens, since we don't have the benefit of in person courses.

  • @imrachellea I definitely overlooked that thread. Thanks for pointing it out!

I will also consider purchasing the textbook as well. With both of our schedules, I'm just trying to decide if it make sense for 1.5 drive total for this class. Home study sounds a little more my style honestly. Thanks for your input and good luck with your readings!
