I found a lump in my breast

I could use some positive thoughts right now. After reading the symptoms thread I was poking around my breast and found an extra sore spot and underneath a lump. It feels kind of large. Im waiting to hear back from my doctor. Is it possible to have a clogged duct this early? I stopped breastfeeding about 13 months ago but still can squeeze out milk. Can anybody offer some reassurance?

  • I'm clueless, but will definitely be praying for you!!
  • Ditto to what PP said. I found a lump about a year ago, and it turned out to be nothing to worry about, and it went away on it's own. There are many causes for lumps, so try not to panic and wait for the doctor to call back. Sending positive thoughts!

  • 1) I have had a lump too. I had it biopsis on my 29 birthday. It came back 'abnormal ' but not cancer. My mammogram was 'abnormal ' too. Now we are just watching it.

    2) most malignant 'lumps' do not hurt. It is usually cysts or just old fashioned breast tissue that hurts. Remember, your breast are changing and growing. They will get harder and have some lumps as our pregnancy progresses and especially when our milk come in.

Just talk to your Dr. Most times, it is nothing.
    Thank God for Raid.

  • When I was pregnant with my first I had lots of lumps in my breasts that would come and go and be varying sizes, sometimes painful sometimes not. My OB checked them just in case but said they were just from the hormones changing the breast tissue and would go away after delivery which they did. Definitely talk to your doctor about them but it could be nothing to worry about.

I want to extend some positive thoughts to you . Praying nothing ever comes from those lump you have. Thank you for sharing your story. This did reassure me a little bit. Ever since I got pregnant again I've been feeling like I've had a few letdowns. I'm wondering if these pregnancy hormones are re-amping my milk supply.
  • I also just found a lump under my armpit, which is breast tissue, so it worried me... My friend has similar ones and has had them checked out. They all came back normal. I'm trying not to stress before I can see the doctor.
  • Thinking of you and hope it is nothing! Hugs mama!
  • I'm thinking of you and hoping that it is nothing. Pregnancy before last, I had a very sore lump in my armpit. Headed right into the doctor and had her check it. It turned out to be nothing. Are you going to be going in for a check?
  • I don't have any experience with this, but wanted to wish you well! I hope it turns out to merely be the result of hormone changes due to pregnancy. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Try not to worry yourself sick, darling. Most likely it isn't anything and probably in relation to all the hormone fluctuations. Also, if it happened to be something else, lumps like that typically don't hurt or cause any pain whatsoever and are typically harder in feeling. To be cautious be sure to bring it up to your doctor and they can perform a breast exam. :)

My thoughts are with you, hun. :):)

  • My mother, grandmother, and great grandmother all had breast cancer.  I check myself regularly and have educated myself about breast cancer for obvious reasons.  This I can say with some knowledge on the topic.  Very rarely are cancerous tumors painful in the breast.  This of course does not mean to take it lightly at all, but try and relax until you can get it checked out. It is most likely a cyst. Get in to your dr as soon as possible and keep us updated please.  T&P's for you!

  • Thanks for the update!
  • I was litterally in the exact same situation as you a few weeks ago. I had an ultrasound and just cysts. Quite a few apparently but the doctor told me it is likely caused by all the hormone shifts. I found the lump before I got my BFP but I went off birth control months ago so I think that was the cause. I'm so glad your getting it checked out but really don't stress. It's probably the same thing :)

  • Have you ever had cysts in your breast? I'm just thinking that because I've dealt with that for years, and with this pregnancy I've already gone up a cup size, and my breasts are super sore, and I can really feel a cyst much more that I usually would (typically the pain would come and go with my cycle).

Definitely mention it to your doctor - hope everything is okay.
  • So glad it's looking up! Fx for continued good news.
  • So happy to hear you and your doctor are on top of this. You're in my thoughts as you continue to get answers, friend!
