Crazy baby kicks and sore ribs!

I just hit 28 weeks and overnight this pregnancy has gotten difficult. Up until now. I was just peeing a lot and getting heartburn. Last night the baby started kicking so hard I couldn't sleep. I can always sleep so it surprised me that something could keep me up. I'll try getting up to walk around and rock him to sleep to see if that works but what are some other suggestions that have worked for you? Also, I've been coughing for a while despite my cold being gone. Recently the back of my rib cage started hurting when I coughed. Now it hurts all the time. A heating pad doesn't seem to be doing the trick. I guess I can make a trip to the chiropractor to see if that would help. Any other suggestions?

Re: Crazy baby kicks and sore ribs!

  • No advice! But I understand. I'm a light sleeper and toss and turn all night. Never even considered actually trying to get her back to sleep in the middle of the night though, just always stay awake while she moves lol. When I was pregnant with my son if I got up to pee in the middle of the night that would always make him move for sure, so I tried to cut back on water before bed lol.

  • No advice. This has happened with my two previous pregnancies, and I haven't found anything to alleviate it. Babies kick where they may, unfortunately! Hope baby starts going easy on ya:)

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • Yeah, 3rd trimester is not as fun as 2nd. I never had great sleep later in my pregnancies so I don't have high hopes for this one. Between movement, kicks, and general discomfort it can be a bit rough. But baby will be here before you know it!

  • FTM and I'm still getting used to the kicks. It's reassuring to know she's ok. But I got up to pee at 4 am last week and I swear she was having Zumba class in there. Usually I can sleep through it, but not that time. DH and I joke that he just needs to put his hand on my belly and she'll fall fast asleep. She never kicks when he's trying to feel. She's already a stubborn thing like her mama!
  • When she is keeping me up at night with her kicks I just like to push my belly up against DH's bare back so it wakes him up too. :) She just started kicking my ribs pretty hard on occasion and it is not fun!
  • Third trimester is just not conducive to sleeping. I have found that always having a pillow between my legs and a smaller pillow under my belly helps a lot, though
