Haha. It's just the four of us at home for thanksgiving, so it's pretty relaxed at our hose this year.
I guess my UO is that I can't bring myself to pay $40+ for maternity pants, or any maternity item really. They are only used for a few months, and it just feels wasteful to me. I would have to think really hard before I even spent over $25 on a single maternity item.

Same here. I have become so frugal since having kids it borders on ridiculous from time to time.
I'm all over used sites and facebook mommy groups for my maternity wardrobe!

I feel the same way about a lot of baby items that people consider "must haves". Of course we did all that with dd and now I realize how quickly they grow out of it all and what really are "must haves". I am amazed at the money people will spend on carriers, toys, strollers, etc when there are options that are just as good and literally a fraction of the cost. To each his own I guess but kids are so expensive I don't see any reason to make it harder on yourself!

I totally agree. I didn't buy anything maternity last time, don't plan on it this time.

Totally. I bought a giant sack of maternity clothes for $50, haha. There was tons of stuff in there. I'll probably only use about half but still a good deal. And lots of my regular clothes I can keep wearing while pregnant...Just through a long black tank under a shirt that doesn't quite cover your belly and voila.
@AmberLiz99 yes!! Maternity clothes are ridiculously expensive and so hard to find where I live. There are actually no stores in my tiny town that carries them. So I am required to order online and hope they fit or take a 2 hour drive to go try them on and still spend a ridiculous amount. I made it through my first pregnancy with very little maternity clothes. Luckily my SIL and I are the same size and she has a shopping problem so when I had #2 she passed all hers (plus mine I had lent her) back to me. They went back to her earlier this year and after my nephew is born in January they will come right back to me again. It's a pretty good system

All of this. I guess my UO is that I totally side eyed the expensive baby item thread... We could, but the thought of spending that much money on baby items makes me ill.
The $10 umbrella stroller I bought at target got more use than either of our other (used) strollers. And my nylon diaper bag from 2011 is in great condition and we'll be using it this time too.

Yeah, I'm with you on not wanting to spend a ton for a temporary wardrobe. Like a PP said, you might want to check out some of the buy/Sell/Trade fb pages in your area (if there are any) and check out the resale shops. I found some nice basics that way. Good luck!
While we are on the subject of spending too much on things... I hate the whole petunia picklebottom diaper bag or whatever the hell it's called. Why in the world would I spend $150+ on a diaper bag?

Agree! Especially considering my diaper bag usually has crumbs and broken crayons that somehow make there way to the bottom. (Pluss I think they're kind of ugly)

Seriously though. I have a friend who got one and she said "it's so convenient to have the diaper changing pad connected to the bag" ummmm no. Knowing me I'd be trying to change the diaper and the bag would tip over on the baby's head then I'd be trying to clean up and somehow poop would get smeared on the expensive bag. Besides target has one for $35 that has a changing pad too!!!
@msuzannah that is verbatim what I thought when I looked at that. I am not chic enough for that bag. Poop everywhere.
My UO: I hate the replies that have the block quotes. Unless it's from really far back in the thread, I'm just scrolling on my phone going, why lord why? Through the text I just read five times. This is just my lil peeve. Please don't hate.
I can't get be supportive of women who want truly elective c-sections (truly not medically indicated). Mountains of research show vaginal births are better for your baby (and mom). I think it's selfish.
