tattoos and pregnancy

I have about 30 min left of work and some time to kill. So thought I'd ask about tattoos! I have 2, one on my lower back and one on my left hip. The one on my hip is medium sized and extends from my side over my hip bone and onto my lower stomach. So far it doesn't look affected by my growing belly, and I hope it escapes pregnancy unscathed! I really really hope if I get stretch marks, that they don't run through the tattoo. So, does anyone have belly or hip tattoos that were unaffected during pregnancy? Or is anyone currently keeping their fingers crossed, like me, that their tattoo won't be ruined?

I attached some pics of mine.....also....sweet lord how I miss that flat stomach! Lol. :)

  • I also have one on my hip. It was unaffected with my first pregnancy. It appears it will be unaffected during this pregnancy as well. I am not overly attached to the one on my hip though so if it was lost I wouldn't be overly upset.

Side note: I got it with a "friend" of mine several years ago. We were BFFS but after we both got pregnant in 2013 she got too busy and doesn't return calls, 0r flakes on meeting up.

  • Yep I have one on my hip (Greek words for Faith Hope Love that I got at the foot of the Acropolis!) that stayed untouched with my previous pregnancy. The others are out of the way.

  • I have one from rib to hip that doesn't look like it will be affected much yet. It's an Asian 'watercolor' waterfall with a quote from The Little Prince. I was starting a southwest themed sleeve when I found out I was pregnant, so that one was put on hold for awhile. I also have a Chi-Rho on my ankle and the quote 'God has great things planned for you' on my foot.
  • mine are all on my back luckily.

  • I have 2 in total one in my hip it's a "playboybunny" yeah got it young now I'm thinking why did I get that now hope it don't get all ugly ;/ won't mind do if get stretch marks that's my reminder of being a mother having my baby boy (:
  • My tattoo is positioned almost exactly like yours and it was not affected!
  • My best friend has a big koi side piece that survived relatively unscathed from her first.

Mine are shoulder/back and wrist so I'm safe, thankfully.
  • The only reason I haven't tattooed my midsection is because I'm so afraid it would stretch out. If the ones on my back, arm, or calf stretch, I'm going to have bigger worries!
  • I have a tattoo the size of a quarter positioned between my belly button and hip bone. I have a stretch mark right down the middle of it with my first. I was bummed at first but I'm well over it now. I'm having it removed and will get something over it when it's light enough after this last baby

I have a little one on my hip that didn't budge with my son! I have an upper rib cage one like right under my boob that was fine during pregnancy, but oddly enough, got a tiny bit wonky after breastfeeding (the girls got saggier lol).
