June 2016 Moms

Outted before I got my coat off!

Got to our friend's last night and the first thing they do, as always, was offer me red or white or grain. I side-stepped and said 'honey what do you want?' He said red and my best friend's lush mom (whom I have always loved to lush with), brings us two glasses.

I said, 'Actually, I think I'll grab some water first.' Her response: "Does that mean you have an announcement?! Congratulations!" I had to laugh Bc when DH asked how we wanted to tell them on the way over, I said, 'oh, I'll just ask for water.' We come here to get boozy with our loved ones and they know it. We all laughed at how predictable we all are. It was hysterical. Any other funny share stories over the holiday? :)

  • Haha, I can't keep a secret with my close friends to save my life. The two best knew before DH because I was in denial and the rest found out after my first appointment. It's just us and my parents for the holidays so no secrets for us. I'm glad you had a good laugh about all of it and weren't stressed :) Happy Thanksgiving.

  • Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you're having a great one!!

Yeah, people get excited. I try to take it as a compliment when I can. She was actually our officiant for the wedding and we love her like a parent. The brother was all 'mom you can't ask that, maybe they wanted to wait.' I just laughed. I know how she is and love her for it. It was perfect. :)
  • Love it! Congrats on telling your news!

  • Yay! So exciting to share the news. I'm happy for you. We had a big thanksgiving dinner and my family already knew I'm pregnant but hadn't seen me yet. I received a lot of hugs and congratulations which felt great. My cousin even surprised me with a big bag of maternity clothes! She just had a baby 6 months ago and isn't having more kids.
  • @WSU2015 how thoughtful! That's great of her! Glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
  • Glad you are all having a lovely day and enjoying your announcements. As we don't have thanksgiving, we will be announcing at my Uncle and Auntie's 70th wedding anniversary mid December. I will tell them at the end of the meal as we don't want to hijack their day but we have to tell them then as it is the only time the family will be together before the baby is born. I know they will be super excited as we have only had 2 babies (including me) in 30 years!
  • Haha! That's pretty much how our best friends found out too. We went to dinner, I declined a beer menu, and that was it!
  • @Atlast111 that will be so special! What a wonderful day that will be!

@scotten lol! So glad I'm not the only one! ;)
  • Lol aw that's cute that they know you all so well and you them.

  • Went to the in laws today to tell DH grandpa. Gave him an album of the wedding photos and in the back it said:
    First came love...June 2012
    Then came marriage...June 2015
    Then came a baby carriage...June 2016

He was so cute. Very reserved but loving old Canadian gent: "Is this true?" We said it was and he politely congratulated us then said. "Can I tell you something and don't take this wrong way, but I knew. You looked fuller in the face, like you've gained weight. But you don't say that to a lady."

I had to laugh Bc baby belly was well hidden and I'm actually still a pound under what I was when he last saw me. It was very very cute tho!
  • @HBamama2B. This is so cute. I love Canadians. They are such lovely people. We went to Whistler every year up until recently (too far with bump) and the Canadians are so welcoming and friendly!
  • Yes. I married into the nicest extended family. And they came with tasty salmon pie. ;)

I've never been to Whistler. Sounds amazing!!
  • You should go!! Amazing place. It's a beautiful little Winter wonder land village. Loads of shops and restaurants. I did a few holidays there learning to snowboard. The ski school for babies starts around 2-3 with fantastic instructors. They drive them around in little snow carts....maybe a trip for in a few years!
