Rash on baby at 5 weeks - any ideas? (pic)

Hi all :)

I have a 5 week old baby and last night I noticed a small red rash on his head, and today it's got worse and it's spreading. I've done the glass test (press glass against it to see if it disappears) and that's all fine, but we're a bit confused as to what this is. It doesn't seem to bothering him and he seems fine in himself.

Any ideas?

    Maybe eczema? That's usually itchy though, at least on me.

    Kind of looks like what I was told was baby acne. My LO had it start to spread around five weeks as well, she was seven weeks yesterday and it's just about all gone. Didn't do anything special it just went away.

    Around three my DD developed the same rash. We knew it looked differeby than the newborn rash so we took her to be seen. Pediatrcian said its "prickly heat rash" hers comes and goes, does your sons come and go?

    My LO has the same type of rash...but all over his cheeks to his head. The pediatrician says it's normal and it will go away on its own, but if we'd like, we can wash it with water and dove soap. I only wash his face with water and it's gotten better.

    My bub has this too. He got it at about 5w he's now 7w and still has it, apparently it's baby Acne caused by hormones etc. they also call it the 6w rash. apparently should be gone in next few weeks .

    Totally normal.  It will clear up on its own.  However, if it gets much worse and looks like it's making LO uncomfortable and itchy, it could be a milk allergy (if you are breastfeeding or your formula contains dairy).  If it persists past 8 weeks and doesn't seem to be fading, i'd consult with your doctor at your 2 month appointment.

    For rashes the midwife recommended leaving baby diaperless to give her bum some air here and there. We also use Sudocrem instead of Vaseline... It's all worked so far!
