If you are not using a baby tracking app...

How do you do it? I want to stop tracking and obsessing, but worry about it. Motherhood is making me very anxious.

Re: If you are not using a baby tracking app...

  • I used one the first week then got over it . I didn't have time to track how long he was eating etc. so as long as LO is making poopy / wet diapers , and is content you should trust yourself and that baby is ok :)
  • Loading the player...
  • She is having plenty of wet/dirty diapers, and I can usually tell which side she needs to eat from next. I also have to other LOs so I don't have time to keep such close track of things!! Haha

  • Long as the checkups have been going good and the dr. isnt worried neither should you be. Agree with previous posters about enough diapers. I keep a hair tie on my wrist and switch it to the side that I should start on the next time for breastfeeding :-)
  • The only thing I'm still tracking is my sleep during the night, which also helps me know if LO woke up because of hunger or if my husband can take over for a bit.
At the hospital I got a paper with tables to fill in for tracking feedings and diapers. It had 7 days worth of tables, so after that I found a similar one online and printed it. At our 10 days dr appointment she was surprised that I was still tracking and told me not to stress over it anymore...
  • Never tracked.. so I don't have advice on how to quit. :/
  • Once she hit birthweight, slept in 4+ hour increments, and her poops stopped changing colors I just kind of forgot. I maybe lasted two weeks?! I just realized how much better it was without tracking everything!
  • My husband and I have been tracking diapers, feedings, etc because it keeps us accountable, but after reading this thread I'm ready to quit. LO surpassed his birth weight by more than half a pound when he was 12 days old. Tomorrow he'll be 6 weeks old and is doing great. Quitting will be our thanksgiving gift to ourselves :)
  • I only did in the hospital. My little guy surpassed his birth weight at 4 days old so I know that he is eating enough and let him make his own feeding schedule. I can easily remember what side to nurse on next. For diapers I take ten and set them aside in the morning. If the stack of ten is gone by the next day or before I know he has had enough wet/poopy diapers in a day. My mom said no one tracked anything like this when she has my brother and I and to just follow your gut/heart on what to do with babe.
  • He's gaining weight wonderfully so I don't track now. I went back to tracking one day to see if formula feeding on demand was over feeding him (it was not) and one day when I wanted to track day sleep vs night.

But mostly we are so busy and out and about I don't think about it.
  • We never tracked. I fed her every 2 hours until she was back at her birth weight (took a little over 2 weeks) and now I feed in demand. I try not to let her sleep for too long (5+ hours) without a feeding because she'll wake up starving and get really frantic at my breast. She is having normal poop and wet diapers so I don't worry about that. I can also see the change in how her clothing is fitting so I know she is growing. Try not to stress. Your baby will let you know what they need!
