Babies on the Brain

It's baby season again! Help distract me!

Hi fellow "BOTB" Bumpies!

Just figured I could vent safely here. Ugh, what a month. I am really happy for my friends, but goodness, they are just popping up pregnant left and right. Two gave birth this month and four announced pregnancies this month!

We are waiting just over a year and it is the right decision for us, but that doesn't make it any easier! So, I have decided to distract myself by focusing on goals.

Personal Goals:
  • Finish my master's degree--re-enrolling in January. I am halfway done and will graduate in May 2017.
  • Learn to sew a sweater--been working on this for a little while
  • Finish our back splash in our kitchen
  • Professionally--get established and comfortable in my new position running an organization, 5 months in and kind of getting the swing of things
What are some of your life goals (personal or professional) that help you stay distracted from TTC or BOTB?

Re: It's baby season again! Help distract me!

  • - I want to lose 20 pounds
-Get our house painted and get new carpet in the living room
-Continue on with my master program, I will graduate in May 2018

Once i'm done with my masters I really want to learn sign language.

  • -Run a 10-mile race in February
-Financial goal to pay down most of our vet and dental Care Credit by March
-Trip to Amsterdam in March to plan for
-Teach a few more dive classes before I go on pregnancy hiatus
-See old friends I've been mad at making plans with
  • @bmo88 Our goals are really similar!

    - Get through the majority of my master's program (graduation tentatively May 2017).
    - Find a workplace I actually enjoy
    - Learn to sew (I take a class on the 6th!)
    - Get through the upcoming deployment....ugh.

    Very similar goals!

What master's degree program are you completing? What kind of work are you pursuing? I need to enroll in another sewing class. I took one in the summer and loved it, it's just been super busy lately.

Bummer about the deployment. My DH is not military, but my father served in the army for 24 years. He missed many special moments, events and milestones throughout my life and I know it was hard on my mother as well. Now that he is retired (but works in the prison system), she is happier, but jokes that "she got used to deployments because she had her own routines." My dad obsessively cleans and re-arranges the house when he is home, it drives her a little crazy. :)

  • Oh man, I'm going to hijack some of the life goals on this list to keep me distracted! I feel like I can never be busy enough to keep it off my mind for long. Right now here's what we've got:

    - Trips to South America & Europe early next year
    - Buy a house/move
    - Start another company and get that off its feet a bit
    - Brush up on some rusty Spanish and French (why not, right?)
    - Get back in to shape and add back the muscle I've lost from being sick all fall

@Xstatic3333 You're a better woman that I am for that 10 mile race! I sometimes joke that I would rather give birth to a porcupine than run a mile. I'll just be over here taking my cardio in Zumba format. :)

Congrats to all of you who are close to finishing grad school!

Awww thanks! The trick is doing it really, really slowly ;-) Zumba is a blast too! Since my old instructor had twins and stopped, I just haven't found another one I like. Getting the urge to get back into yoga lately, too.

I am currently enrolled in a graduate cert program for Wildlife Management, but am submitting my application for OSU's PSM in Fish & Wildlife Administration (basically wildlife science with some policy classes) by the end of December. I currently work as an environmental scientist, but really want to break into the wildlife biologist field. It's pretty tricky to get there though.... What master's program are you pursuing?
I'm stoked for the sewing class! My mom bought me a machine a couple of Christmas' ago, but I have no idea what to do with it. Hopefully Joann's Fabrics can show me the way, haha! Could come in handy for future nursery DIY's *FX*.
I love that your dad cleaning the house drives your mom crazy! DH's father is retired military and now he works a 3 weeks on (out of town), 3 weeks off schedule for work and I still have no idea how the MIL deals with it. DH says it is because she got so used to it during the military life, but fortunately I don't have to worry about deployments expect for every other year or so, which is something I guess. :)

Edited: because "except" and "expect" are too closely related.
  • Sirius37: That's a cool sounds master's degree program. My program seems so boring in comparison (and honestly kind of is, lol).

I am getting a master's in Public Administration with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management. I am currently a nonprofit Executive Director and while I got the position with a master's, I will very likely need one for a future position. Since I finished half of it at my previous employer for free, I figured I might as well finish it out.
