My sister just went grocery shopping for me yesterday she's awesome! My ob told me I need to slow down due to the number, frequency and duration of the contractions I'm currently having. So no grocery store for me.
I'd seriously consider the motorized scooters if I didn't need to bring my toddler with me. If you need it, go for it, no shame that's what they're there for. Less stress on your body.
I feel the same. I wish I could pack my 4 and 2 year old into one of those scooters with me. Getting groceries is seriously the biggest battle or me in the last week. Our fridge is empty but every time I work up enough gusto to go, just getting the kids dressed and ready to go out in the snow leaves me exhausted and I abandon the trip.
In Australia the big supermarkets have an online delivery service that costs under $10 and they bring the groceries into the house. I started shopping online about 4 months ago.
I feel you!! A couple weeks ago, my first week on Mat leave, I decided to go to the "big" store (vs the small one in our immediate neighbourhood) and do the shopping all by myself. That left me barely walking and waddling out the store, panicking over hot and cold sweats and cramps all around my front and back right side (not contractions though, just bad back pain and RLP). Same thing happened the next week!
I've upped my water intake and upped my walking and stretching and it hasn't been as bad since then, but definitely after each trip I'm DONE! I doubt there will be many more weeks of me feeling up to it!
Ha! My husband made me do this the day I got out of the hospital. I'm supposed to be on modified bed rest, so I didn't feel TOO bad about it... but it was still embarrassing! It was also one of the best grocery shopping trips I've been on in a while. DO IT.
We have grocery delivery in the states too. Just not all stores.
I went the other day by myself and got dizzy and had to sit in my car for s bit and eat something before I could drive home. DH went with me over the weekend and I had to put my head down on his shoulder for a few minutes because I got exhausted.
I set up an eye appointment at Costco optical for tomorrow morning, because I have the day off. Yes...Costco, the day before Thanksgiving. I want to bite the bullet and stock up on a ton of basic pantry stuff while I'm there, and am basically already giving myself internal pep talks to deal with the inevitable chaos. I've decided I have no shame in playing the pregnancy card. Bathroom lines? Pregnancy card. Don't want to lift whatever item into my cart, even if it's not that heavy? Pregnancy card.
I've been having excruciating pelvic pains and think I have SPD. I gotta talk to my dr about it. But I was talking to my mom about it and she said I need to use the scooters and I laughed at her. Well DH and I went to the store this past weekend and he went to get me a scooter I was like "what r u doing??" He said you don't need to walk. I don't feel comfortable with it when there are people who really can't walk need it. Until my doctor says to use one I will just suffer lol
Oh my goodness. I feel ya! I went to Kohl's tonight, because well... kohl's cash was about to expire. I had to stop so many times because of contractions. So here I am in the middle of the packed store, clutching and leaning over my son's stroller trying to breathe. I got some really funny looks. And the "Oh you poor thing" comments... 'twas great. Not. Screw shopping, even if I did get a few good deals.

My biggest issue with shopping is walking and nudging the little boy to my bladder.. This usually happens towards the back of the store ( bathrooms always in the front) So I'm just walking along and *crosses legs tightly* It's a fairly quick shopping experience for me.. One of these days I'm scared I'll pee myself...
The scooters are freaking awesome! Hubby puts our son in the race car shopping cart and tells him we are racing mommy. Its actuaaly been pretty fun. I live in a small enough town that I have seen my ob at the store. He just shakes his head and smiles. Get the scooter!
Grocery shopping has been horrid. I make it half way, then usually feel like dying. One of my students saw me last week and commented to me on Monday "mrs t you didn't look so good in Walmart yesterday" lol and I work on my feet all day, Idk what it is about grocery shopping but it does me in!
Oh my goodness this makes my day to know other women are in the same boat as me. Grocery shopping is so overwhelming to me! I get so out of breath and I have a two year old that has to pee half way through every time! I think I'll be writing Hubby a list for some Saturday shopping until after babies here!
Re: In all seriousness, I no longer think I can walk the grocery store

I feel like Aladdin right now! (Cue A Whole New World)
