How much tummy time do you do? I seem To forget about it and he doesn't like It and cries. He likes his swing, activity mat and stories. He will lye on my stomach in the day and nap...
I maybe remember to do 5-10 minutes per day at most, but my LO is holding her head up so well and is strong. She gets really mad flat on the floor or play mat, but seems to like the boppy.
In the state of Virginia daycares are required to do 30min per day. This does not have to be done all at once it can be broken up. And this is something they will allow you to build up to for a little while.
This is my second child and I just met up with a friend who also has a 2 week old and a newborn and both of us said we're lucky if a few times a week. I do wear LO a lot though so she's at least getting that time off her head. She does need that push up strength though. I'm just so busy carting her to DD1's activities.
I'm guilty of not doing it enough with my 10 week old. She hates it no matter what I do and is held pretty much all day, she even naps in my arms, so I'm not worried about getting a flat head. She really needs to get that body strength to hold herself up so I need to get on it
I always forget! But my baby is not happy just laying down. He likes to stand and look around. His legs are very strong and he's holding his head up like a champ. We're getting a bouncy chair for him for Christmas.
I was feeling the same way and my daughter would cry after about 30-60 seconds. We both hated it! I felt so guilty despite her head being quite strong because every single book says to make sure they get plenty of it. Then I read somewhere to do it right on the changing table every time you change their diaper and I started doing this about a week ago. It's incredible what a difference it made! We do it about five times a day and now she lasts 2-3 minutes. I even got a smile today! I would definitely recommend this strategy for at least a week and see if it works. If it does, your little one will become stronger and every tummy time will be less painful for both of you
Google search 'tummy time ideas'!! My LO has been getting hours a day since 3 weeks old!! His doctor was so impressed because he said he usually has to beg people to do tummy time. He said there is no such thing as 'too much' as long as they enjoy it. We do tummy on the floor, tummy to tummy with him looking up at our faces while we are leaned back, superman hold while walking, holding him kinda up over the shoulder while walking around or burping, baby carrying in the Bjorn!!!! All these count as tummy time!! Good luck!
Oh my gosh, I feel so much better reading this! We try to be good about getting time for it, but often get too busy or he gets too angry. He has awesome head strength and has been a very strong baby since day 1, but I need him to work on his arm strength so he can work on eventually rolling over...

I usually forget-it's been a few days since she was on her tummy in her play area (she has mobiles and things to look up at, so she will lie on her back for much longer-gives me a chance to play with DD1). I wear her a lot, which is supposed to count, so I try not to feel too guilty. She definitely has 2nd child syndrome though. I cut corners everywhere just to get through the day.
My little one hates it. I suspect this has to do with her (medicated) reflux. I try to do it for a few minutes especially in her afternoon wake ups. I let her fuss a bit but sometimes I pick her up a few minutes in when she starts wailing. TMI Warning! Yesterday, during tummy time, she was working up to a dirty diaper and worked so hard that a ton of milk came out of her mouth and nose. I had to pick her up quick before she started aspirating on it. I wanted to cry.
This. I have been feeling horrible today because I haven't been doing tummy time enough. I feel terrible when he is on his tummy because he HATES it. He starts crying right after I put him down. I'm so glad I read this thred tho because I tried on his boppy and he smiled and was happy for about 2 minutes which is huge! It made me feel so much better about having more tummy time. Thanks for the suggestion!
My LO hates tummy time also! Literally put her on her tummy and she cries. Doesn't matter if it's the playmat couch, bed, boppy, or myself. She hates the carrier but likes to be carried with her head up on my shoulder. She has been holding her head up since she was born. I feel bad when I do Tummy time listening to her cries and then bad if I don't do it. Sometimes if she's had a very cranky day we just don't do it because it makes the already stressful day worse. I know we need to work on it more it's just hard when she hates it so much.
We've been doing tummy time once or twice a day since he was 3 weeks old, starting with just a few minutes at first gradually working our way up to 5 minutes. He's 12-1/2 weeks now. There are days we've forgotten, and there are days we've done it more than twice. But we've been carrying him around chest to chest with his head over our shoulder for weeks so he's built up his neck strength that way and has great head control. Just last week he all of a sudden started being fabulous at tummy time, holding himself and his head up with his arms for five minutes straight and even rolled over from tummy to back. It was like a switch went on!
