Repeat Mommies please help this FTM

I'm sorry if that's not the correct term this is all new to me. I need advice and help I am 7 weeks 3 days today and for the last 3 weeks I have experienced near constant nausea. Now I know this is part of the pregnancy glow ;) and I could deal with it. I also get this heavy in the evening as well as sick the few times its happened. The last two days though have been extra worse. I barely got any sleep last night I had a stomach ache so bad and sore body but I know it's not the flu as I have a normal temp and still will ease for brief period of time. To make matters worse it's 30 degrees outside and DH refuses to turn the best on so our apartment is barely 60 degrees which to be honest helps some when I'm really nauseous. Please any advice support wise words? I just feel like I am drowning in exhaustion emotions and DH just doesn't get it :( I love this baby so and it will all be worth it but I just want this part to ease up so I can feel like a human again!

From one teary new mommy to be,
Lindsay

  • Talk to your doctor. I got some anti nausea meds and I feel normal again. Dicgleis is awesome. Sorry you are so sick. :(

  • Agreed - talk to your doctor! I had horrible morning sickness with DD, and to function I had to take a medication called Diclectin (it might be called something else in the States, I'm in Canada). It helped a lot! While I was on it I didn't feel nauseated at all. I needed it well into my second trimester. So far so good this time around but I'm only 5+3 so it likely just hasn't hit yet. I already asked my doctor for a prescription in case the nausea hits and I can't get in to see her for a few days
  • I was sick all the way mid-way through my 3-tri with my last two. I broke down and asked for meds for my son. I was taking Zofran. Although I keep seeing warnings now on FB regarding Zofran causing birth defects. My son was fine and I don't know what that's all about, but something you could research. If you want to take a more natural approach, you could try Ginger tea and Ginger chews. I found some Ginger chews that I really like and they really do help. :-) GL and hang in there...it's not easy I know! <3

  • Thanks I'll try to hold off on meds for a bit longer I will definitely try the ginger. You are all so sweet for replying it's so scary not really knowing what to expect since everyone's experience is so different. I'm so paranoid I'll lose this little one since my mom had 3 miscarriages so in some ways I'm thankful for the nausea because it's means little blue is a okay.

  • Make sure you are staying hydrated. I learned late on with my son that if I didn't push the water throughout the day I was worse the next day and night. Anytime you wake up to pee at night drink a bunch of water before falling back to sleep. And first thing in the morning start sipping before you get around. This time around I have put out a great effort to carry water with me constantly. I have felt good so far. No headaches, no sickness, no constipation ;) Maybe even buying a special cip and straw will remind you to keep the water flowing!
  • Lots of water and ginger chews! Those were my life savers. And saltines. I found if I let myself get too hungry I would be dry heaving and nobody wants that. GL with beating MS!
  • I would for sure call my doctor and talk to his nurse and she what they think. I would also turn the heater on and tell DH to shove it!

  • My OB recommends taking a B6 supplement for MS. I find the preggie pops with B6 help me get through the day. Some ladies here have used unisom successfully, just ask your OB first.

I'm sorry you feel so bad. I was similar with my first. The nausea was so intense it would wake me at 2am, I'd shake all over, nothing helped but time or throwing up. It lasted until 6 months. My old OB wouldn't give me meds because I was gaining weight - from all crackers and empty carbs. :(
  • There's nothing dear about that "DH" if he won't turn on the heat!

Talk to your doc...some sickness is normal but you can't be too sick because you both need nutrients and fluids!

  • Ummm, your DH is making me effin ragey. Turn the goddamn heat on and tell him to go pound sand if he has a problem with it. What the actual fuck???
(Sorry for the harsh words, I'm on a short leash today)
  • Call your doctor. I just got a script for Diclegis - totally a game changer. I am not feeling awesome but it is way better.

  • Ginger, sour candy (jolly ranchers worked well for me), B6, sea bands, eating crackers or small salty snacks, try to eat small, frequent meals. I found my m/s worse on an empty stomach. And like everyone else has said, talk to your doctor if it gets too uncomfortable.

  • I can't stomach crackers, but traditional potato chips are so salty that I just grab one of those single serving bags and they seem to help me. Not the healthiest snack, but I don't currently care.
  • The heat is one woohoo and DH is slowly learning. I called my doctor and she put me on pelvic rest for spotting and told me to use unisom and b6 for nausea and ms :) where do you all get your ginger candy?

I used preggo pops with DD all the time!

  • These muffins are my go to right now when I feel sick, which is nearly constantly. I have one as soon as I wake up and another 1-2 throughout the day. I personally can't do any of the ginger chews and am really adverse to food right now so this works. Also, like pp said, drink tons of water. I agree it feels impossible when you want to vomit all day but it does help

  • I got Gin-Gins candies on Amazon and also Preggie Pops (<--- those you can get at Babies R Us or Motherhood Maternity, too).

  • My doc started me with 25mg unison at night and 25mg of b6 4x a day. Then when that wasn't enough we added diclegious (not sure how that's spelled). It is also for nausea. I bought sea bands which did not help. I tool 250mg of ginger supplements 3x a day. Preggie pops helped while at work. Peppermint gum also helped. I also keep saltiness by the bed and munch a few before getting up in the am.
