  I've seen a good excuse that you're taking antibiotics. My friends are the same way and would be immediately suspicious.

  Medication is always a reliable excuse. Or say you want to start with water etc and just forget to order a drink.
  
  If you are in a place where you can place orders at a bar you or your SO can go pick up a round and get you a virgin drink.

  there was already a thread about this. therr would probably be some good options suggested there for you.
  i personally just told my friends i was trying to slow down on the drinking, since we're all very big drinkers. if they bugged me about it I'd just joke around & tell them to stop trying to encourage my alcoholism. they stopped after a little while.

  Couldn't agree more. I feel your pain! It's especially terrible for me because I'm a horrible liar! But, after 2 miscarriages, I'm willing to lie for a few more weeks. I've been using the antibiotics/medication excuse. It's worked so far!! And I'll have you know, I've had 4 people FIRST say, You're pregnant! And in large crowds of people that I hardly know. Really....yes, this is how I'd prefer to tell you!! Ugh!

  I just went to a wedding last weekend (8 weeks so not ready to tell the world either.), and I used the excuse of being hung over from the night before!  Medication is always a great excuse. Since it is winter (I dont know where you are from) here icy roads can be a good excuse to not even have a little to drink.

  Order the glass of wine or allow someone to pour it for you and just pretend to take a few sips now and then. Also, you can say you have an ear infection and are on antibiotics or that you're hungover from last nite

  My parents are doing my birthday dinner tonight and if I turn down a rum/coke or wine, my mother will automatically be suspicious... So, DH is drinking for 2 tonight. I'll just say yes, then when mom and dad aren't looking he'll take sips out of my glass.

  Or you just go up to the bartender after receiving a drink tell them to switch it for just a plain coke....

  Or be honest with your close friends and family .... Or make it a glass of wine and sip it through out the night I've had a glass handful of times through out my pregnancy and NO SHAME
