What's new with baby?: finally starting to get bigger movements. Stupid anterior placenta!
Appointments?: just had one today. Got my flu shot, tdap shot and glucose tolerance test. Found out the are going to make me retake the test at 32 weeks if I pass this time since ds1 was a big baby.
Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: nothing really since we have everything from ds1
Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: after being told how much weight I was gaining at each appointment with ds1, it felt so good to go in today and have my doctor praise my weight gain and compliment how I look. Definitely makes me feel better than last time.

GTKY: What special traditions do you have for Thanksgiving? We don't really have any. We switch off each year between my family and dh's family.

What's new with baby?: my baby is a wild man. He moves around like crazy and I love it
Appointments: Today I had my monthly check up. Scheduled my c section, discussed all my questions and learned some new things.
Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: I am ready to bring the baby home. The nursery is not done but he isn't going to sleep in there at first anyways..
Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: just busy eating pickles and being pregnant. Oh and I have reached a weight gain plateau at 18 lbs gained. Have been hanging out here for about 3 weeks. I'm not nearly as hungry as I used to be.

GTKY: What special traditions do you have for Thanksgiving? Haven't done family traditions in a few years but plan to start again once we have our little boy. And that's watching the Macy's day parade while I cook dinner. (This is the first year I won't be cooking.

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: I've been stocking up on clothes, blankets, pacifiers, etc. All our big stuff is gender neutral, but I'm having fun buying blue blankets and stuff. Also had a friend give me two huge boxes of 0-9 month stuff, so I've been going through and organizing all of that.
Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Generally feeling good as long as I take it easy. Any prolonged physical activity leads to BH, sciatic pain, and pubic soreness. I really really need to remember to wear my maternity belt when I go Black Friday shopping . . .

GTKY: What special traditions do you have for Thanksgiving? We alternate between families every year and don't have any major traditions. But my sisters, mom, and I have gone Black Friday shopping every year for the past 15ish years. We can't miss out on the deals!!!

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Put one coat of primer on in the nursery last night - I think it probably needs another so we will do that tonight. Sayonara baby poop brown wall color.

Questions?: For BTDT moms - if you were being thrown a shower for your first, did you buy much before then? Or did you hold out until after?
GTKY: What special traditions do you have for Thanksgiving?: We do my family's Thanksgiving around 2 and his family's dinner around 5 every single year. For like 10+ years now. Thankfully our family's live all of 5 miles from each other so it's actually rather easy.

I waited until after the shower and evaluated what I truly needed that was left on the registry. There was still plenty of time after the shower to do that (I was 36 weeks at my shower). No sense in limiting what people can choose from to purchase.

What's new with baby?: so much movement! Family members finally got to feel it! And growing.
Appointments?: was supposed to have one today but I rescheduled for 2w - snuggling in with my kids today. GTT tomorrow, which I will undoubtedly fail again.
Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: nah
Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: all things carbs. Hence my pessimism about the GTT.

GTKY: What special traditions do you have for Thanksgiving? Since being married and having our own little fam, we will sip wine and listen to Xmas music on pandora while preparing food. The parade will be on for the kiddos. After thanksgiving dinner we start putting up our tree while we drink egg nog and watch Napoleon Dynamite. We also watch A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, Elf, etc, but always Napoleon Dynamite first while we do the tree. Idk why but it became a tradition.
ETA - totally forgot about one of our most favorite turkey day traditions! The MST3K marathon! Idk of it comes on tv anymore, but we have eleventy-bazillion of them, so we start'em up after the parade and play them until NapoleonDynamite time in the evening

What's new with baby?: This LO seems to be a bit nicer to mommy compared to how DD was, in the way that he will actually allow me to sleep on my side while leaning a bit forward. DD would just kick the hell out of me until I moved back.
Appointments?: None this week. Next one will be next Monday.
Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: I'm knitting a baby blanket but it's going very slowly. I can't find time to knit while trying to entertain DD after I come back from work. I've only been doing it on the weekends when DD is napping. Let's hope it will be ready by the time LO comes out.
Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Got a cold from DD so anything hot and spicy will help clear my sinus.

GTKY: What special traditions do you have for Thanksgiving? Nothing really. This year we are going to my brother's house for Thanksgiving dinner and I am making him do the majority of the cooking. My parents live in a different country and in laws are a bit far from us, so it'll just be a small dinner get-together.

What's new with baby?: his skin is starting to actually look like skin. not see-through anymore. his kicks are getting stronger too; SO can finally feel him

GTKY: What special traditions do you have for Thanksgiving? usually it's where we have it.. at my mom's. this year though, we had it (I'm in Canada) at my place for the first time. i think it'll be a new tradition to have it at my house from now on! i live hearing everyone's traditions!!

What's new with baby?: Trying to kill me off with contractions/fake UTI - apparently I'm just thirsty because a gallon of water caused everything to simma down??? He's moving like crazy right now. Hiccups all the time.

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Ordered 4 pairs of Baby Legs and checked with the person we donated our baby clothes to to see if they still have them. If not, we will have to get a whole new wardrobe for 0-6 months.

Questions?: silly question i know.... but with my last pregnancy I never knew if or when my daughter had hiccups, how would you describe them? Has your baby started to get them? And does the feeling of them having the hiccups feel any different than regular movement?

GTKY: What special traditions do you have for Thanksgiving?
We always go to dh's family since my family celebrates in October for Canadian thanksgiving. We do Thursday with one side of his family and Friday with the other. Thursday night we always come home and watch elf because Dh lofts the ban on all thibgs Christmas as soon as thanksgiving is over. I can't wait for turkey dinner!!

What's new with baby: She's starting to know up from down. Getting ready to train for her future career as an astronaut.
Appointments: Next one is my Glucose test on Dec. 10th. Midwives are moving offices that week, which will be really nice. A little closer to me...and right next to an Orange Leaf...and my favorite chocolate shop...
Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby? We are REALLY close on a name. My only hesitation I have is that's it's in the top 10 names lists, and I always had a "nothing from the top 50" stance. But I just keep calling her that name, and it fits her and our family.
Symptoms/rants/raves/cravings: Not drinking enough water. I have to have to have to drink more. I'm just never thirsty! And then I'll go until noon and realize I haven't had any liquids yet. I've had terrible tendinitis pain at night, to the point that I can't lay on either side. I'm going to be really hopeful in thinking that it MAY go away if I drink more water. There's an app for that, right? Kicking my butt if I don't drink enough water?
GTKY: Thanksgiving. I'm a Canadian-now-American living in the US, and all our family is back in Canada. We always have a really quiet day. I'm the only one who likes turkey, so it's normally a labor of one, then dinner consists of me fighting my children to try everything. I'm giving up the fight this year. We'll still be just the four (+1!) of us, but l don't want the fights. We are having non-traditional food this year. Then heading to a movie in the evening. I like watching the parade and the dog show while I'm cooking! @Stormiewinter --I love the idea of watching Elf!! "DH lifts the ban on all things Christmas"--lol! Mine too! We also put up our tree and lights on Thursday. My boys love putting up ornaments, and while it's pretty bottom-heavy, I let them decorate how they want to. They love hearing about the meaning behind each ornament. We have a very hodge-podge decorating style, and I love it!

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: I'm strugging to keep my weight in check, per my doctor. I've been trying to eat better and the gain has slowed. Let's hope it's slowed enough for her! My nausea is back in full force, especially at night. My heartburn is out of control. And, my boobs are KILLING me right now.

GTKY: What special traditions do you have for Thanksgiving? It's just been DH, DD and I the past few years since our family lives about 1,000 miles away. We do our own small thanksgiving where I make a few side and cook a turkey breast.

Appointments?: next Wednesday is the first with the new (old) Doctor. Very thankful she accepted me now that I've moved back to this area, even though the practice doesn't usually take transfers after first tri.
Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: there's so much on the to-do list it's pretty terrifying, so I'm just trying to not stress too much about the fact that I haven't made any decisions yet on any of the major baby products, and remind myself that I still have some time.
Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: I had been doing so good on the indigestion, I had gone almost 3 weeks without it, but oh was it bad last night. Barely got any sleep.
Questions?: can another first time mom please tell me that in not alone in not really having gotten anything specific done? I guess I should just blame it on the extenuating circumstances I have going on, but it's still bothering me.

In the past we have run around to several different gatherings, but this year we are taking it easy and only going to one tomorrow and making some food at home so we have leftovers
Weeks/Size: 26 weeks! Saying good-bye to the 2nd trimester! Baby is the size of a head of lettuce and weighs 1.5-2.5 pounds

Appointments?: Had my injection appointment on Tuesday, and my next one is scheduled for 12/2. I have no idea when I see the actual doctor again- he pops in every now and then.
Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Got my guest list for my shower sent to my cousin/hostess. We are going to go start our Christmas Lay-a-way tomorrow after work, so I do plan on sneaking a couple baby boy things in there too- then big Sis can open them for him on Christmas day.
Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: My boobs have begun the leaking! My poor husband- it is so much fun me being a STM and this being his first child. He ran away from me last night, actually thinking I could squirt him and shoot a stream like a super soaker! I had to explain to him that that's not how it works...but he was still frightened and wouldn't come near me, for fear I would whip one out and soak him lmao!

GTKY: What special traditions do you have for Thanksgiving? We have a turkey day the sunday before, so my dd can go to her father's for vacation/Thanksgiving. Then we usually put the tree up the day after, but this year we did it before our turkey day, so dd could help decorate it (and mama wouldn't have to do so much lol).

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Finally bought some decorations for her room, and now that we know we're not moving until June, I can start doing more stuff to get her room ready for her.
Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Hips and pelvis hurt, lots of RLP and mild cramping this week. Peeing every hour.
Questions?: Anyone else have RLP that lasts all day long? And why am I still only feeling movement very, very low 80% of the time?
GTKY: What special traditions do you have for Thanksgiving? Nothing special, the same typical family get-together. I've made the turkey myself the last two years, and I really enjoy that. So I might start insisting that our families come to visit us for thanksgiving so I can cook in my own house. I'm tired of traveling every damn year to other peoples' houses.
