Damned if I do and damned if I don't

Today I moved baby out of our bed because the constant grunting, squirming, and snorting was keeping up all night. Luckily, for the first time ever, she is on hour FOUR of sleeping in her bassinet. I've spent the entire time tossing and turning and getting anxiety about how I'm not sleeping while she is sleeping. But I hear her squirms, grunts, and cries in my head even though she has been sleeping peacefully! WTF!!!!

Re: Damned if I do and damned if I don't

  • It doesn't go away either! DS is 2 and I still hear phantom cries through his monitor, drives me crazy.

  • I am in this same situation, plus his room is just too far away for me! He sleep laughs, deep crys, coos, squirms, grunts, groans, and will be facing the opposite direction that I laid him down?!?! It's never ending but he sleeps through it, somehow?! He sleeps better in his crib than he pack n play next to our bed. I'm guess it's more comfortable? How sad that I was thinking of getting a twin bed to set up in his room...for me?! Gah! I'm a FTM but I'm just not ready for him to be on the other side of the house. He had his last bottle at 2230, woke up fussy at 0400, and I was able to soothe him back to sleep without feeding him!! Then he woke up at 0600 on the dot, screaming because he was so hungry! I should have been sleeping but I was so busy watching him and listening to him that I didn't sleep at all.
  • DS sleeps in our room in his own bed. He usually fussed and grunts and it keeps me up, so frustrating because I'm so tired. Then there's silence, he sleeps quietly, but that makes me paranoid when I don't hear anything, so then I'm up making sure he's still breathing. And it's true too about phantom cries, DD is 2 and I jump with every sound on the monitor.
  • We have a white noise machine that was supposed to be to help LO sleep, but now it's mainly for DH and I! We use the rain sound and turn it up a little bit. It's relaxing for us and LO, and it drowns out those little grunts and noises she makes, but not loud enough to drown her out when she actually stirs when waking up! We can't sleep without it now! Maybe try that!
