What are you cooking up this week? Let us know what you're bringing for Thanksgiving (unless you're cooking the whole dinner!)

And

GTKY: what is your least favorite Thanksgiving food? There has to be some family tradition your MIL loves to make!

Oh and sorry you won't get to feast on Thursday if you're Canadian or working!

  • I usually meal plan but between all day sickness and the holiday, I've got nothing. Maybe lasagna tonight and soup and grilled cheese tomorrow. Then we head south to my grandmother's Wed-Sat and I was told not to bring anything.
  • Oh my least favorite part is cranberry sauce. I don't understand it.
  • Yes!!  My favorite post :-) And this week is going to be EASY :-)

    Monday: Leftover Punch Pizza.
    Tuesday: Leftover Butternut Squash Soup
    Wednesday: Thanksgiving dinner #1
    Thursday: Thanksgiving dinner #2
    Friday: Leftovers
Saturday: Not thinking that far ahead yet...

I love me some mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes (please leave off all that sugar and marshmallow crap).  and @blm10 I don't get it either.  Nasty.

  • Well DH did the meal planning for this week, thank God because just the thought of food doesn't work well for me :( I know he's doing chicken parmesan strips, but can't remember what else he has planned.

My dad (the chef) entrusted me to make the roasters (just peeled potatoes baked in the oven in oil) for turkey day They are my absolute favorite thing, and a huge hit in our family, so the pressures on, lol.
I'm going to bring some pretzel chocolate candy things too just as an extra. Oh and wine, still need a plan for faking drinking through, I think I will just try an pour some out every time I go to the bathroom or take the kids to the bathroom. Ahhhhh

I absolutely hate sprouts! My parents used to always make me eat at least one or have one on my plate and it's kind of a joke now.
Oh and the cranberry sauce, gag!

  • I made a huge batch of vegetable soup yesterday so I plan on eating that up until Thursday.

I bring some of my own food to thanksgiving since I don't eat meat. I was lazy and ordered tofurkey from Whole Foods. We are also bringing mashed potatoes, pie, and a cracker/cheese/sausage tray for before dinner.

My least favorite dish is this hashbrown soggy creamy potato dish someone always makes. I forget what its called, but everyone else loves it. Eww.

  • Mon: Steak, new potatoes, green beans
    Tues: Buffalo Chicken Bowls
    Wed: Chicken Pad Thai
    Thursday: thanksgiving
    Fri/Sat: Yummy leftovers

I'm bringing a mega bowl of fresh fruit and I usually make a couple of pumpkin rolls for my siblings to take home.

GTKY: what is your least favorite Thanksgiving food? Sweet potato with marshmallows. Gross!
  • M: Sloppy Joes and some sort of veggie side

T: Salmon fillets and roasted asparagus

    W: Spaghetti

T: Thanksgiving at the in-laws. I'm making cranberry sauce, fudge and one pie

F: Leftovers/ Mexican food (It's a tradition in DH family)

    Sa: Beef stew

    Su: Meh... Idk

  • We're hosting Thanksgiving, so we'll just be eating whatever is in the fridge all week. We'll probably get pizza or Chinese on Wednesday night.

  • M: Crispy Quinoa Sliders
T: Stuffed Peppers (w/brown rice and turkey sausage)
W: Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup
Th: Thanksgiving x 2 (@ aunts and then @ in laws) - Making pumpkin pie x 2, mashed potatoes, and sausage balls
    F: Leftovers
    Sa: Leftovers/maybe out
    Su: Pizza?

GTKY: what is your least favorite Thanksgiving food? I love all of it. Usually someone makes something obscure that doesn't go over well, but for the most part, it's all good. However, my MIL makes this wet dense stuffing that has all kind of parts of the turkey in it that I loathe, but DH loves it so she always makes it...

  • Can't wait to make some leftover Thanksgiving Poutine!
Bake up some French fries smother them in brown gravy, cheese curds, shredded leftover turkey & drizzle with a little cranberry sauce
  • edited November 2015
M: Minestrone soup with kale and an Asian noodle peanut dish (if I feel up to it, pilates killed me today)
T: Baked chicken, garlic fingerling potatoes and spinach
W: Who knows, but definitely not going grocery shopping this day so probably pizza or Mexican
Th: Nontraditional mostly vegan food plus dried out turkey at the in-laws house. (They have no idea how to cook a       turkey, but at least they try.) I'm tempted to bring tons of fatty side dishes but don't have the energy to cook them right now. I'm bringing snacks for the car ride home though because I was starving by the time we left last year.
F: Who knows? Will probably end up running to store!

GTKY: what is your least favorite Thanksgiving food?  Yams. I refuse to eat them regardless the amount of butter, sugar or marshmallows are on them. Disgusting little root vegetable.

  • M: tortilla pizzas
    T: chana masala
    W: leftovers
TR: Feast at my in-laws! I'm contributing dinner rolls and pie
    F: leftovers
    Sat: prob eat out
Sun: grilled cheese and tomato soup

GTKY: I don't think I've encountered a traditional Thanksgiving food I couldn't get behind. I'm excited about being pregnant during the holidays for many reasons, one of which is my stretchy maternity pants. Gonna hit up that buffet line more than once!

  • Monday: Veggi quiche with homemade has browns on the side

Tuesday: spaghetti with spinich and either tofu or shrimp

Wednesday: black bean tacos with homemade tortillas

Thursday: full thanksgiving dinner, making it all at home this year. It will just be the 4 of us. Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry, Brussels sprouts, great beans, rolls, two kinds of pie and sparkling cider. Looking forward to it!

    Friday-Sunday: leftovers probably :)

I really dislike yams, no matter how they are cooked. We won't be making those at our house this year.
