So I'm going off the pumping in public post. I am amazed at how many of you pump and drive and I have some questions. First of all I would love to do this but don't know where to start. When I go back to work in the COLD January I will have an hour commute so I would like to pump on my way home - will be funny for all the truckers driving next to me on the freeway but so be it! I'm curious are you ladies driving the car or a passenger because that makes a difference. I'm nervous to have the flanges and bottles jam into my chest if I hit the stealing wheel in an accident. Is there anything else to use? And how do you use your pump - with a cigarette lighter adapter? And how long do you pump for? And what are you wearing - a cover up? I will be picking up my daughter from daycare so I guess I would unhook in their parking lot. And how long is your drive for - do you stop the pump while you're driving? Or are you undoing it all once home. Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm so intrigued and really want to do this but don't know where/how to start.
Re: Pumping and driving - advice
Hands free bra and my nursing cover as a cover. I usually pump the whole time (20-40 minutes). It's longer than I usually pump but since I have the time, why not?!
I usually hook everything up in the parking lot and then unhook when I get to work. If it's crowded, I usually move my car into the back so there's a little more privacy. Sometimes if traffic is at a standstill or I'm stuck at a long red light, I'll start disconnecting when I get close to home/ daycare.
