Convertible Car Seat

Hey Ladies,
LO has not quite outgrown his infant car seat yet (his feet are right at the end, but his head is not to the top yet)
but we have a close friend who is due in Jan but currently on bed rest due to being 2cm dilated. They're hoping her LO stays in and cooks a while longer but since we've only used our carseat for 3.5 months, and were planning on getting a convertible soon we are giving them ours and getting a new one this weekend.

Soooo I was wanting some advice or suggestions, I've looked at the cars eat for the littles website but I want to know y'alls experience.

Re: Convertible Car Seat

  • We've used Grace 4ever since day 1. It's been super nice so far and I'm excited that it will transition with her all the way to booster seat. It was pricey but if we get the promised 10 years of use out of it then it will be worth it.

  • We are getting the Graco 4ever as well. Its more compact than others and it should be the last carseat we will need to buy. I also like that the cover is machine washable.
  • I have been looking as well & am leaning towards the Chico NextFi, but not 100% sure yet.

Can the Graci 4ever be put on a stroller or is it a car only car seat!?
  • Infant seats are the only ones you can attach to strollers. Convertible car seats are meant to stay in the car.

Im a first time mom too! I highly recommend going to www.csftl.org and checking out their site. They have lots of reviews on all sorts of car seats. I also joined their facebook page (its called car seats for the littles) and they were able to recommend car seats based on lo's size and the cars we drive. They also answer any sort of auestions you may have. Very informative and extremely helpful for first time moms!

This is so helpful! I'm definitely checking them out hopefully they'll also be able to recommend one for me! Thank you so much for the information!
  • We went with the Chico Nextfit. We had the Chico Keyfit 30 for an infant seat. However, with LO being 16lbs and the seat weighing 9lbs empty, it's just to heavy for me to lug around so we switched to the convertible. I do keep the infant seat in the trunk with the stroller if we're going into the mall or something. LO has great head control, but I feel like if we're going to be out awhile, I'd rather put her back in the infant seat for if she falls asleep.

  • We have the Chico next fit zip and we LOVE IT! Soft material, easy to put baby in and take out!!
  • Update - We ended up getting the Graco Contender and so far it has been working really well. LO would fuss in his infant seat b/c it was just too cramped for him but he loves the Graco & has fallen asleep almost immediately in it. Also it fits well in my truck. I drive an FJ cruise and it was getting pretty difficult trying to get the infant seat in through the suicide doors and the Graco actually takes up less room so all together it has worked out very nicely.
