6 week sleep regression?

Please tell me I'm not alone and that this will pass! My LO was sleeping so well with 5-7 hour stretches and great day time naps. I felt like I finally got a good sense of her natural schedule and what works well for her. But the last two nights have been miserable getting up every 1-2 hours and sometimes just to cuddle, not eat, which is not like her at all! She also hardly napped at all yesterday. The only positive is that she's been in a great mood with lots of smiles. I just miss my sleep and feel like her 7 hour sleep was such a tease! Is this a growth spurt or a wonder week? I just need to know I'll get my good sleeper back!

Re: 6 week sleep regression?

  • I think wonder week is (average) week 5 and then followed by a growth spurt in week 6 which is why they can get a little evil in weeks 6-8. Our nighttime hasn't changed much but I don't know where our sweet baby is all day. One day I can't get her to take a single nap and she'll scream if I try and the next she's exhausted and is either sleeping or screaming all day!

  • We are week 7 today and I've noticed this same change over the last several days. She's very fussy all day, and night time sleep has gotten worse. I thought we were doing well, now I'm frustrated too. I did read the same thing about the wonder week. I'm just trying to tough it out with hope that by 8 weeks she'll be better.
  • My LO will be 9 weeks tomorrow, last week he rarely napped during the day and some nights he slept in 4 hour stretches and other nights he was up every hour. I can't figure things out, I've kept our night time routine the same... He gets his 2 month shots on Wednesday and I am going to talk about switching formulas again. Bc he still is screaming while sleeping bc of gas. Hopefully it gets better soon.
  • Yes, week 6 has been a rough one!!  We had 3 nights in a row of being up every 1-2 hours.  Eating and screaming a lot, barely napping during the day.  Last night she finally had a 3 hour stretch of sleep.  She is still wanting to eat every 1-2 hours during the day today.  Before this week, she had a whole week of an initial 4 hour stretch of sleep at night.  I feel like everything with sleep is 2 steps forward, 1 step back so hoping we are going forward again.  It has been such a hard week.
  • DD is in week 6 as well (7 weeks tomorrow) and the past few days she isn't napping well and is fussier than usual. She would go 4-5 hours between feedings at night and now she's back to 3 or so. She also isn't taking a full bottle during some of her feedings and I think that's contributing to the problem. Seems like it is indeed a problem with the age, which gives me hope that it'll get better!
  • My little one will be 7 weeks on Tuesday and is doing the same thing. Maybe week 7 will be back to 4-5 hours overnight? *i sure hope so*
  • Oh poo. My lo is 6 weeks today. I know she slept at least 4 hours last night/this morning. She has already gone through not really taking naps during the day. And fussy if she's put down. Some days are better than others. I've found if she wants to be held and I want to get things done I need to put her in my chicco front carrier and carry her around with me. It'll usually put her to sleep or she'll at least be satisfied.
  • My LO is 7 weeks and 3 days and she's been so off and fussy for the past 2 weeks and continues to do so. I'm hoping the 8th week she levels off. I try not to get frustrated or keep trouble shooting different specific reasons why my sweetie won't sleep more then 3 hour stretches (on a good night) compared to my friends babies who apparently sleep 5-6 hour stretches at 6-7 weeks!
I'm going to just take it one day/night at a time and pray that she starts sleeping better in the next few weeks or at least before i go back to work!!
  • DS just started sleeping kinda good, it's on and off some nights. BUT and I know I will get some slack for this, he's been sleeping on his stomach. I know ur not supposed to but he has great head control now for a couple of weeks. And it seems to be working. He slept last night from 830-130 woke up feed, diaper change, then I tried to place him on his back, was fighting in his sleep for 3 hours and crying the whole time. So by 4 I rolled him on his belly again and he slept till 6. some nights this works and some nights it doesn't
