  • Personal opinion here, but if I was dilated at 29 weeks I'd probably avoid doing anything that could potentially cause any more issues. My worry wouldn't be about having sex, it would be about keeping my LO in as long as possible so he can grow till he's ready to safely come out.

    So much THIS.
Sometime it's hard to refrain when you're "in the mood", but considering you just had a trip to the hospital and you aren't yet in the "safe zone", so to speak, I wouldn't suggest doing anything that could potentially cause more harm.  Your little one needs to stay in there a few more weeks! :)

  • I'd definitely call your doctor.
    Personally, I say no sex.
I've been on pelvic rest for months due to a shortening cervix and then having 1 cm dilation and being 70% effaced at 30w. Semen can soften the cervix, which is why they suggest sex to induce labor in later pregnancy. Orgasms can cause your uterus to start contracting, which you also don't want.
  • Ask your doctor/midwife.  If it helps at all, STM+ walk around their entire pregnancy at at least 1cm.
