Baby's head measuring small

I'm 36 weeks and our baby's head is measuring in the 9% percentile while the rest of his body is in the 50% percentile. Also, my fluid level is on the very high end of normal. Of course I did what I shouldn't do and Google. Everything I found points to the baby having Down syndrome. We've had all the genetic testing bc I'm 35 and everything came back low risk. My doctor said everything is fine and not to worry but I can't help but to. Anyone else have any advice or a similar experience?

  • Oh, I'm so sorry your facing this. Just take a big breath and try not to stress, which I know is impossible to do. What does your doctor say about your risks? Have they offered further testing.

  • If you're doctor isn't concerned then you shouldn't be concerned.
Step back from Google and take a deep breath
  • Agreed hon, avoid Google like the plague. Likely your doctor is being upfront. I find mine will not sugar coat concerning findings and I would hope most are like her. So use her as your lighthouse. She said it's not time to worry so just keep that in mind. :)
  • Google can be the devil when we Google symptoms and etc. I agree with these ladies, take a step back from the internet, and just listen to your doctor. :-) Try and stay calm and do your best to avoid the stress since that's not good for you or the baby.
  • I had the same issue.  The baby body is at 55% but the head only at 8%.  I also googled and then cried.  I discussed it with my main MD who said it not an issue unless it is more that 2 SD away from the average which I wasn't.  All we can do is wait and pray.  Also "just say no" in regards to google until you are not pregnant!
  • Sorry to hear that you are dealing with this, I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry. Your doctor isn't worried so that should help give you piece of mind. Feel free to ask your doctor for more information at your next appointment and avoid googling it!

  • I'm with everyone else - avoid Google at all costs! I would continue to communicate with my doctor and see if they're going to order further testing.
