vaginal pain

Ok, so I've tried to just assume this is growing pain for the baby but this is getting unbearable. I'm 12 weeks and my vagina feels like its going to fall down to the ground. I mean there is this unacceptable pulling and so much pressure. I have no stomach pain. It's so bad that I can barely walk sometimes. If I lay in one spot I'm ok, but when I got to adjust my body or get up I damn near cry in agony. Is anyone else experiencing this at this point in pregnancy? I just need to know if its normal. I am calling my doctor tomorrow but I'm losing it.

UPDATE: Appointment scheduled for 11/24/2015 @ 9:45am EST. I hope everything is ok.

Re: vaginal pain

  • Definitely not normal. I would call an urgent care line or something tonight. I hate being uncomfortable. Good luck, feel better.

  • I'm 12w4d and haven't experienced that, even on my fourth pregnancy. Near the end, the pressure and pain get crazy, but definitely not normal at this stage.
  • I've been having a lot of vaginal pain recently, but it definitely doesn't sound as severe as yours is. I'm seeing my doctor Tuesday.

Have you had any bleeding? Anything else out of the ordinary?

  • @laurenm2123 there has been no bleeding and nothing else out of the ordinary.
@Linsbins and @nicolesmith0624 now I'm worried. I was hoping everyone would say its normal. I'm going to call my doc first thing in the morning. They open at 7am
  • @mom2beEbby I talked to my mom about it today (she's a nurse practitioner) and she didn't seem overly concerned.

Mine feels heavy and hurts when I get up. I'm wondering if my uterus is laying low? I'm not thinking it's nothing, but I'm not running to the ER yet either because it's bearable and I've had no bleeding/discharge.

I'll be happy to talk to my MD On Tuesday though... Hopefully she'll have some good suggestions.

  • Last pregnancy I inadvertently gave myself a vulvar variscosity at only 10w, by throwing up really violently. It basically felt like I pulled a muscle in my vag- kind of a vag-hernia. Just the worst! Google it and see if it matches anything you feel/see. It's entirely possible it's the same thing. Mine improved vastly after a week. Good luck!!

  • @nekedfeet wow, these symptoms resemble what I'm experiencing. Am I supposed to see the veins for it to be this?

Just because it's abnormal doesn't mean you need to worry. It might be an easy fix. I'm not a doctor, you just come across sounding like you're in pain. I have a very low pain tolerance, so I would be running to urgent care ASAP. Hopefully they can give you something quick and easy.
  • Ok- question--- is this pain more
Or less at certain times of day? Or does it hurt especially when standing up for the first time in the morning and then ease a bit after standing? Or does it stay constantly if standing?

With my first, I had such severe pain in that area--- especially when I would lay down for a while and then stand up. It would go away after some time but definitely took at least a couple minutes of crippling pain. I was concerned and got checked out but they ended up telling me it's normal. Still- if I were you--- don't worry too much but it's probably good to get checked out and ask IF it IS normal- what exercises or other things you can do to relieve the pain. It did not last the whole pregnancy for me- probably just a month or two. But like I said- mine wasn't constant throughout the day.
  • @babyweber3Its constant throughout the day. Now, it does get worse after laying for a while and then standing. Also if I adjust in bed. Especially every time I walk. It hasn’t gone away in over a week and its every day.

What did your doctor tell you?
  • @Linsbins the receptionist is going to have the doctor call. They said I should hear from them by lunch time. Im sitting by my phone waiting.

  • @mom2beEbby let us know! I'm so curious

  • Hey ladies! I spoke to the doctor and he said that this does not sound normal. He wants me to come in as soon as possible. The issue is I have had a lot of appointments and really cant miss any more time from work. This is a temp job and they can let me go without cause..in addition, I cant miss the money. I know that this baby has to come first, but I cant really do much for the baby with no job. This is so stressful. He said he wants to do an exam and make sure there is still a heartbeat. He refused to speculate as to what it could be because he said I use google too much. LOL. My next scheduled day off is not until December. He said he wants to see me before thanksgiving….

  • I agree with previous poster that it sounds like vulvar varicosities.  They're basically varicose veins in your va-jay-jay. They usually clear up after you give birth, but they hurt like hell until. I'm talking mayor pressure like something's going to drop out. There are braces you can wear to help alleviate the pain.

@Jason&Erin82507 do you think I could have that this early? At 12 weeks

@denny+lee I scheduled it for tomorrow. Thanks
  • I really hope it goes well and you can go on to enjoy your holiday.  Is it possible for someone to cover for you or switch shifts with you so you don't have to take off?

  • Yes, especially if this is not your first pregnancy (not to say that it can't happen with your first). I have been wearing my brace since about 9 weeks. =-( Good news is that it's gone away after both of my girls. Bad news is that it hurts and you have to wear the brace. The brace, btw, makes your butt look terrible in most pants =-o

  • @momtobeEbby

I couldn't see anything when it happened to me- I don't think that's a requirement of the issue.  If this is what you have, I'm sure you'll be fine!

You should go see you Dr. though... I'm sure there's a time you can squeeze in a visit!

  • So, I just left the doc. He can see that I'm very swollen but said it's just the blood flow. He said it's just a lot of blood there because of baby. He heard the heartbeat and I'm getting a sonogram in a few minutes. He basically said that as long as the baby is ok I just have to deal with it. He did recommend ice and using the same type of things you use for vulvar varicosities. He said that it should help, and that as this second trimester continues itnmay get better, it may not. I feel like I wasted my time going. I'm glad the baby is ok but I didn't get any answers. I knew it was swollen myself.
  • At the very least you know that nothing is wrong
  • Yes absolutely! I saw my MD too (same issue) and even though I missed work I am just so relieved that I saw my LO and everything is good :)

  • Glad to hear everything went well!  Bummer though that there's no new info.  Definitely ice... it was the only thing that made me feel better!!  You can also soak a pad in witch hazel with a bit of water and stick it in the freezer... it's the right size/shape and it feels pretty good. Witch hazel can bring swelling down as well.
    Best of luck!
