How would i determine due date as last period was August, only had sex 6 weeks ago?

My periods have always been irregular and I wasn't shocked that I'd missed a period after 2 moths as it's quite normal, however 2 weeks ago I had what my gp now believes to be implantation bleeding as it wasn't like my regular heavy period and I have tested positive for pregnancy, alongside constant hunger, sickness and sore breasts. I'm still waiting on my appointment with a midwife, does anyone have any ideas as my due date can't really be based on the first day of my past period so I'm really confused.

If you had sex only once and it was 6 weeks ago, you can assume you ovulated within 5-6 days of that particular day. Many online due date calculators allow you to enter an ovulation date, anywhere in that 5 day window after sex will give you a decent estimate of due date. At your first appt, see if they'll do a dating ultrasound, early pregnancy has very standard sizes for the embryo, to the point that a simple measurement can guess the due date within a few days of expected.

This would put you at about July 3rd-July 9th @jadelauren96 so about 8-9 weeks. It's standard practice to do a dating ultrasound in situations like yours, so I'd confirm that with your midwife office.

  • I also have very irregular periods so I know how confusing and frustrating this is! If you know when you could have got pregnant, there are websites that will let you enter that date and give you an EDD. Honestly your best bet is to wait until you can get a dating scan. If you don't know when you ovulated and you don't have regular periods to base it off of its just a lot of speculation that will make you go crazy!
