Saturday morning rant!

OK so I'm just over 38 weeks ( going by size of my little girl) and trying to be as independent as possible.... My lovely mother and my husband has been telling me for weeks now that I'm not allowed to shower when no one is home. Understanding that my husband is a truck driver and is always on the road and my mother who happens to live with us has a job as well, she works 2nd shift and before bed to help me sleep I like to take a hot shower to relax. Mind you since hitting the 3rd trimester I have been going to bed early and being sick on top of everything else. I know that they are only thinking of my safety ( could fall or water might break) but damn it I just want to be left alone lol sorry it's long I just needed to get it out there......

    I think that's a little over the top, I could see not taking a bath in case you can't get up but a shower is a little much. Maybe getting a shower stool would make them relax, this way you could sit if you start to feel funny and wouldn't risk falling.

    OMG! WHY would you do this?! Gonna throw me into spontaneous labor by showing that thing! (Please note the sarcasm in the last sentence).

    OP- you have to shower/bathe whether they are there or not. It is unfair to put a limit on you if there is no reason for it.

    thanks ladies I still do it any way but I mean I kinda get his point on it with being worried but its not like the drain is going to suck me in or anything.... lol..... and no the doctor never said anything other then be careful.

    I think the shower stool is a great idea. It could put them at ease. Now I want one because I am lazy at this point and really miss taking baths but can't get in and out of ours alone.

    Def get shower stool like pp said. That defiantly helps my DH frame of mind seeing as I take a billion showers a day

    Dude, I don't know about her, but shit has become very Cirque Du Soleil during my showers. Those hairy things are not going to win this war. 

    Avoid the bikini area though. And if you must shave blind, for the love of god, do NOT trim..

    OP I get it. I have a psycho oveprotective mom too. The overprotectiveness in my family comes from driving. Lol! My mother insists I shouldn't drive anymore till baby is born. Come on people!!!! My answer was : with all respect mother. Oh.hell.no. I've been driving for 18 years. I am fine. Sure. Sometimes I get weak but I am fine. I wish she would trust me. I'm not going to put myself and my daughter at risk. Plus I'm not that huge it's a physical impediment and everywhere I go is atmosphere 15 mins away so it's not like I'm driving hours out there. People be cray cray man.

    I shaved my legs the day before DD was born since I was going to wear shorts while DH and I took DS to the park. We have a bench in our shower and I would place my foot on it, but more to the side than in front of me. That worked out pretty well.

    As for the bikini area, let's just say I was rockin it 70s style when I went into L&D. Thankfully I was able to (safely) shave after I got home.
    I completely forgot I purchased a trimmer with guard a few weeks back. I only used it once right after I got it.

    I can understand ppl you love worrying about you. But in reality I think I'm in more danger walking down the stairs to the bathroom to pee in the middle of the night. My husband doesn't seem very concerned about me safety wise. The only big thing I've stopped doing is going to the dog park with pup. Otherwise, I basically just try to keep my phone with me whatever I do these days. In the bathroom when I shower, when I walk on the treadmill, or walk my dog, etc. Maybe if you tell them you'll keep the phone close by when you shower they'll feel better? Either way, the finish line is in sight, it'll be over soon!
