First was ELC due to him being breech so no labour. Second, over 12 hours not including 2 days of painful early labour but only 20 mins of pushing. Third- half an hour start to finish!!! Including ten mins of pushing
First my water broke around 4:30 am (no contractions or any signs prior) got stuck at a 2. Put on pitocin around 4 gave birth at 7:40 pm so 15 hours. (30 mins pushing) Second, water broke at 11:30 pm contractions didn't start for another 30 minutes. Arrived to the hospital around 1:30 am at 1 cm dilated. 4:30 I was 6 cm, 5:27 am baby was born so 6 hours total. (10 minutes pushing)
1st- 6 hours (15 min pushing) 45 min on epidural 2nd- 6 hours (5 min pushing) 1.5 hours on epidural 3rd- 3 hours (1.5 pushes) "all natural" 4th- 15-16 hours! (30 min pushing) "all natural"
First was 5 hours of hard labour , 2nd (this morning) was 2 hours total ! Most intense thing I've ever experienced ! No epidural or anything ! Omg was it ever intense !!
First- water broke, had to be induced. In labor for 15 hours. (15 mins pushing) Second- water broke, had to be induced. In labor for 6.5 hours. (5 mins pushing)
First: 5 hrs, about ten minutes pushing. Second: 1hr 40 minutes, about 3 pushes.
But, every pregnancy and delivery is going to be different, and you can't count on subsequent labors being shorter, or you'll end up having unrealistic expectations. (Also, I'm really hoping that when I get to number three, my labor isn't half as long or I'll end up in Georgia peach's club delivering on the side of the road! .)
Cook3133, Why do you think your fourth took so long? Did you have complications?
No complications! He was almost a pound bigger than the other 3, not sure if that had anything to do with it. My labor was all around diffrent. First the contractions started at 3-4 min apart this time the started at 10 min apart. I figured he would either be my shortest or longest . Just goes to show all labors are diffrent!!
DS - 19 hours labor, 1 hour pushing (went into labor after a sweep on my EDD) DD - 10 1/2 hours of labor, 1/2 hour pushing (induced at 40w2d due to low amniotic fluid)
DD1: Induced, 24 hours, pushed for 90 minutes DD2: Spontaneous delivery, 1 hr, pushed 10 minutes (I'd been having false labor for a week and a half so when it was go time, it was go time!)
I wish my second came as fast vaginally... 1st labor was 15 hours maybe 10 minutes of pushing 2nd baby was about 10 hours and her heart rate was dropping so we had to do a c-section I heard her cry within 5 minutes... personally I would much rather vaginal delivery. Couldn't argue with the doc, we had to do what was right.
Lurking from December, though DD was born Nov. 9th at 36w5d.
I had a placental abruption with DS at 32w4d, but L&D didn't know it was a placental abruption and we're trying to stop contractions. Overall labor and pushing was just over 30hrs. With DD I had a bit of bleeding and from the time I realized I was in labor to actual delivery took less than 4 hours.
