December 2015 Moms

Okay, but really, I'm wondering ...

So I know we have the D15 Birth Announcements thread pinned to the top which I think was great when we had some really early deliveries and wanted to keep the board tidy.

However, we're actually approaching December how (10 more days in case you were wondering) ... crazy right? ... and seeing as though these babies are kind of the entire reason this board exists are we going to reach a point where we are all free to post individual birth announcements that people can actually comment on? I know a few people have already and they haven't gotten flamed (which I think is great) ... but have we reached that free for all point or are we still confined to the D15 thread?

  • I like the idea of being able to comment.  I also wish that people gave more detail. I lurk on N15 birth announcement board because I like to hear about the different experiences.  It helps with the fear of the unknown.
  • I think every baby is a blessing and should have their moment of glory! And of course we should be able to congrats the mother! No flaming from me when those posts start appearing!! 15 more days for me!
  • I would love to be able to comment on birth stories so if we all agree to write in the birth announcement thread and also make our own thread for people to comment, I think that would be great.
  • I vote for personal thread announcements also, that way we can see them as they come in and can offer congrats and melt over all the squishy bebes :)

If you read the stickied post it actually says to include the link to your birth story. So special snowflake birth posts are encouraged!
  • That's what I did! I posted Colette's birth story since I was so shocked at how smoothly it went.

In 2012 I posted about Dom's birth story also, because the entire ordeal was exhausting.

I love reading birth stories so post away!!!!!

Well, I may be the unpopular opinion here, but there's at least 500 people on this board. Yes, the announcements have been slow, so one or two birth stories here and there have been fun. But... as more of us start giving birth and if everyone posts their birth story as a separate post, that would be pretty overwhelming in my opinion! There could be 10... 20... 40... birth stories all in one day. So, I personally think the birth story should go in the announcement thread and then people can send personal messages to the people they've connected with throughout this journey. But, that's just my 2 cents.
That'd be nice, but that's not how it's going to happen. I've been to this rodeo before. The worst is going to be the people who you have never heard of who come in and post their birth story and you're supposed to be all "ermygawd, you had a baby! yay!" but what you're really thinking is, "Uh, who are you?" There will be plenty of birth stories that I will love and be happy for and supportive, and way more others where I just really won't care.

I probably won't be able to keep up with them all, EDD is 12/06.

This is where using the announcement thread will be handy. If long time users post links to their thread then we don't have to open every birth story.
