I somewhat enjoy waking up at 2:30am every morning! I get things done! And by getting things done, I mean remembering to change the load of laundry I fell asleep doing. That and watching the Netflix shows DH doesn't enjoy.
I get really tired of the generalization that men just don't give a crap about pregnancy until the baby gets here. That is so untrue of my husband and a lot of other men I know. Just because your (general you) husband isn't excited doesn't mean "men" don't care.
Stop generalizing men and excusing their crappy behavior just because they are men.
Every pregnant woman I see that looks like she MAY be around as far along as I am (or due within the month of April...) I wonder if she's a bumpie that I know from here. So basically, I creepily stare down every pregnant woman I see to see if I recognize them from HDBD.
And a second one (I wrote these both down earlier this week so I wouldn't forget! Pregnancy brain, yo...)
I let DH tell me who to vote for in elections. We both are conservative Republicans, with very similar opinions on political issues. He is a government teacher, and is therefore much more informed on all the political activity from reliable sources (most of my political info comes from Facebook...because that's not biased at ALL). He let's me know the best candidates given our views, I go to the polls. Sometimes I use votesmart.org/voteeasy/ and it always lines up with whoever he says to vote for.
ETA: In case anyone is interested, VoteSmart says from my current political leanings, Marco Rubio is my guy. As a Florida voter, I support this!
@sarahufl....I agree! I am blessed with a DH who is eager and involved. He was so upset he couldn't go to the last appt due to work...even though it was a quick heartbeat check. I will say that with DD, my ex was uninvolved and apathetic while I was pregnant. We all know that every guy is different, don't put them in the same box!
@iamrachellea...ME TOO! Check out the Due Date master list...there is a tab that sorts by location....then you can narrow down who lives near you. Creepers unite!
I just shut down a visit to the BIL and SIL so DH could look at remodeling their kitchen. I really don't feel like listening to SIL pick a kitchen based on what her mom and sister have. Not to mention remodeling it to the point of being redic. Her mom just redid her kitchen for 125k, and SILs budget is 85-90k. I'm sorry know kitchen remodels are spendy but I hate how they toss arouND money. Esp since DH and I could do what she wants for 25-35k.

Holy. Crap. I know I'm in the Midwest so property is cheaper, but my whole house costs 130k! Did they gold plate the faucets?!?
I've had my Christmas cards stuffed, addressed and stamped for over a week now. I set a reminder to put them in the mailbox next Tuesday so they arrive right after Thanksgiving

Good God! 125k? Is her kitchen alone the size of a house? How the heck do you spend that much on a kitchen? Are the cabinets made of gold or something?

Lol, I had the same reaction as you! My house and land cost $145, I can't even imagine how you spend that much on one room! Maybe its a mansion and she had all her appliances and tiles/countertops handmade and imported from another country. The refrigerator must be jewel encrusted and there must be heated inground pool by the stove!
The last two days at work I am to be writing reviews for all of my employees. I really hate writing these reviews. They're a waste of my time because I let them know their performance day in and day out. I'll write two sections of one review then bump for 30 min then write another two sections. Really takes up a good chunk at work so it looks like I'm busy and no one disturbs me to do anything else
No, it's not a mansion. It's a nice 3 bedroom house in the suburbs of MSP. They just admitted they paid 380k for the house. They are only redoing the kitchen to increase value above 460k when they sell this spring. She comes from money. They both have good jobs. Her family competes with each other which is really sad. When I told her we would be financially stable to purchase a house this summer/fall she smiled. When I told her our budget was 100k-160k in town or 200 tops for a property out of town with land she just laughed and said that wasn't much of a budget. Why should I pay all this money to remodel my house when it's obviously something DH and I like to do, and what DH does for a living.
They have never shown an interest in selling the house except when we said we were putting ours on the market, now it's all they talk about. I really don't want to be in competition with them over who's house sells first. Ours is a house we owned in MD and then rented when we relocated back to MN. We have lived really cheaply the last few years with DH starting his own business and having Dd. We wanted to be able to afford any emergencies or surprises that might come with owning a business but also a house half way across the country. It pissed me off she doesn't understand that.

Unfortunately it's considered a moderate kitchen and house. DH thinks they probably converted from electric to gas to make it so expensive. They replaced all appliances, and put in goirmet. There are two of them that live in the house. The kids are in their late 20s-30s. Cabinets are solid cherry. It's pretty sad. Again, another remodel where money was wasted.

My first house plus a full renovation to make it livable cost less than what they're spending. That's kind of disgusting, but I'm the person that would give the money to someone who needs it...like for food.
Edit: posted before I was done ranting. I also didn't grow up around many people with money
This is more of a UO but I don't like the term "baby dust" "angel baby" "rainbow baby" or any other name that has to do with pregnancy after loss. I lost my last one at 8 weeks and ya it sucked for a few days but I really don't think my new pregnancy needs a label.

I don't want to sound like I was ripping on your family - that amount of money just blows my mind. Same way watching House Hunters in DC/Boston shocks me. I can't imagine spending half a million on a house smaller than mine. I know market and family norms makes a big difference
I'm sorry they haven't been more respectful of your (wise) frugal decisions. It's hard to have family/friends make good decisions harder. Its already "easier" to spend frivously, you don't need someone pushing you to do so when you've decided to use your money otherwise.
Go ahead and rip on her. She married into the family. Both DH and I come from frugal families, DH more so than mine so it's interesting that she married BIL. I have a hard time wrapping my head around a lot of what she and her family does. Even if I had that kind of money I would never own a 350k+ house.
I had Mcdonalds yesterday and not only did I just have McDonald's, I larged sized my meal and it wasn't the best decision health wise but man was it amazing! That large FRESH fry hit the spot!
I'm sitting in my parents driveway because my car won't start. Nobody is home, so I'm waiting for my husband to come jump it. However, all i can think about is the leftover buffalo chicken calzone waiting for me in my fridge. I'm so hungry!
I had a second cinnamon roll at breakfast time this morning. Not because I was hungry, but because the first one was delicious and I wanted more in my mouth.
Now I'm having a second can of ravioli for lunch. Not because I'm hungry, but because the first one was delicious and I want more of it in my mouth.
I have not cooked in weeks. After a failed spaghetti attempt I decided I am officially done until baby arrives. Same thing happened with DS but only because I threw up at the smell of food cooking.
I was in a hit and run accident today while working and when I called my OB they sent me to the OBED. I probably would not have come on my own, and I feel okay, but I know that I would not forgive myself if something went wrong.
PS: F YOU IDIOT WHO HIT ME IN TRAFFIC AND SPED AWAY. YOU ARE WORSE THAN GUM ON THE BOTTOM OF MY SHOE!

I have another confession. I'm feeling very relieved after my anatomy scan - partly because all looks good, but mostly because baby is still a girl. I know the chances of getting that wrong from the panorama test are, like, super tiny, but I was still a teeny bit afraid of showing up at the appointment and seeing baby boy junk on the screen instead.
@AEG84@Goldsgirl9@NOLA520 thanks ladies, I think everything's alright.. they've done Doppler, a straight cath (the on call doctor likes to go straight to the source for urine samples apparently), and will be doing a US. Fun way to spend a Friday!

Shut up, I'm pregnant. I do what I want.
I feel exactly the same about this Arabic dish I grew up with made with a plant called Jute Mallow. Won't bother trying to explain it because it's a very acquired taste and has the texture of cooked okra, so most people hate it if they didn't grow up with it. I have been so obsessed with eating it during the pregnancy and I eat several portions even though I am completely full but it's like I just can't get enough. I've cooked it 4 times this week. I asked DH how he would feel about eating it a lot (or every day) when he comes, and he was like "I'll just cook my own food"
On the other hand, it's an extremely healthy dish loaded with vitamins and minerals and folic acid, so I don't feel guilty for eating it all the time I'm considering cooking some more rice and having one more portion right now. It's crazy.

I totally believe in Karma!! And she's a real bitch!! Whoever hit you will get justice served. Glad you and baby are ok
