I walked 4 miles today and am sooo exhausted! I can barely move my legs! Starting to wonder if walking to help get dialated faster is worth it. Haha. Anyone else doing anything similar?
I have been walking a lot as well, eating spicy food and pineapples! Baby boy seems very content in there so I'm also trying to sleep as much as possible so I'm well rested for the big event.
I've walked a lot the entire time but now my feet get swollen when I walk 4 miles, it hasn't stopped me yet, but I now require foot massages afterwards and regret the decision to walk that far after the fact. Maybe bouncing on the exercise ball would be a better way to get baby motivated. My baby kicks me pretty hard when I eat something unexpectedly spicy in apparent protest, so I think at 40 weeks I will make an effort to make sure I eat spicy foods conistently!
You know, I totally didn't think about it, but nearly every day we would walk DS to his favorite park which is a two-mile round trip. Then we would have lunch at another park near his preschool and chase him around a bit. The day before Colette was born was Sunday so we took him to his usual favorite park, but the also walked him to A little shopping and "restaurant district" before going home. That was a good five mile trip we took that day.
I wonder if the extra miles may have had anything to do with it. That and the fact that DH and I were still having sex everyday must have triggered something.

More power to you for walking that far. No way I'm doing that. I just make DH have sex with me two or three times extra a week. Way more fun, way less exhausting and way more efficient at ripening the cervix.
I walk 2+ miles a night. Been doing it since before i got pg. I had to cut my 15 mile daily bike ride though. Sigh. But it may not bring on labor (until you're reasy anyway) but it will make birth a bit easier. At least it has for me
I ended up walking about that far yesterday, but certainly not by choice! Stupid building fire drills with a rally point a half mile away about doubled my already required walking for the day. Definitely got the BH going, though. And made me feel a little better about the fact that I only went to the gym once this week.
4 miles?! You are my hero. I take my dog for a short half mile walk and it's torture. I think this might be another OWT though. My mom walked around a store trying to induce labor with me and it worked, I think it was just coincidence.
I've been trying to clock 4 miles about 6 days a week. I did at least that much walking my pup prepregnancy. I have noticed I'm getting tired more afterwards though. Also, I have more swelling when I don't get my walk in.

Whimp. I do a triathlon at least twice a week, and I sprint 8 miles twice a day. When I go in labor I want to be able to just sneeze and pop this baby out.
I was just going to say this. My ribs hurt every time I breathe, so if you can actually handle walking a metric shit ton, more power to you. Just let me sit on the couch and stuff my face while you do that.
I love how we have the super power now to maneuver all conversations to food.
I believe that is because the only thing we are more obsessed with than food, is when our babies will be here. It's definitely a close second place...
I've threatened my unborn children with a lifetime of being grounded if they come before Thanksgiving. I've been counting down the days til deep fried turkey for at least 4 weeks now.

False. I would not. I'm lucky if I can climb my stairs without resting.
Also, I'm good with not inducing preterm labor.
