I'm hoping this might be an opportunity for a little support group. I used to smoke cigarettes (a pack every couple of days). I quit a few weeks before I found out I was pregnant. It's going pretty well but occasionally I think about it. Don't read that to say that I consider smoking one, I just think about them occasionally. Anyone else quit recently? How's it going?
Re: Who quit smoking?
Good luck! It's really great that you quit. You will start to feel so much better physically from it. Sometimes when I get a night out and have a few drinks, I will get the urge to have an occasional smoke (before I was pregnant again, obviously) and it's amazing how repulsive it is now when I try. I used to be so immune to the smell and taste, but man, it's gross! You'll get there too, I bet. It just takes time. Good luck!

I had my last cigarette the day we started trying. There were a few times before I knew for sure that I was pregnant that I thought about wanting one but didn't just in case I was already pregnant. Which was good since I got pregnant immediately. Haven't considered smoking since and have been impressed with the lack of cravings. I was worried this was going to be harder than it's been but I've never had motivation like this before. Like it isn't even an option I'll entertain which has been a relief.
Good luck. It's a really hard habit to break! I'm proud of both of us!
I was never a heavy smoker but I'd have a few if I was drinking. DH and I had been on a beer and cigarette kick all summer but I had my last beer and cigarette on the last day of my period since I thought we might get pregnant this cycle. I've thought about it a few times but never came close. DH will still smoke every now and then and the smell grosses me out.
I had a friend that quit cold turkey while pregnant but she started back up again in the third tri. She's only have like 1 a day. Her baby was born early and had some complications. Low birth weight and he was a premie. I always wondered if it was because she smoked and because of that I am not at all tempted to even have one.
