January 2016 Moms

Multiples check in 11/18

Hi all!
We haven't had a check in in a while, so I thought I'd start one!
If you've already had your beautiful babies, how are you recovering and how are the babies doing?
If you're in bed rest/hospital stay, how are you dealing?
If you're still waiting, how's everything going?!

My water broke 2 weeks ago and the babies are doing fine. I've been in hospital since and they have shown no signs of leaving. I'll be 32 weeks tomorrow which the doctors didn't think I'd make it to! They've scheduled an induction for me December the 7th. BUT every single doctor has told me I will not make it that long. I'm hoping to defy odds so that my babes don't spend a lot of time in the NICU!

Congratulations to all the j16 mamas who have had their little ones already!

Re: Multiples check in 11/18

  • So great you've defied the odds this long! Hoping you make it all the way to December 7 and wishing for healthy, happy babies!

Had my 30 week appointment yesterday. Baby girls measuring 3 lb 5 oz and 3 lb 7 oz. Doctor drew blood levels for bile acids and liver function and has started me on actigall. Hoping I can keep my levels low and keep babies cooking healthily until 36 weeks. They won't let me go longer with the cholestasis because of risk of bad outcomes for babies possible.

Other than that, just feeling huge but enjoying the holidays.

Hope all is well with everyone!

  • @JDBtwinmama Here's hoping those babies can keep cooking a little longer! You got this!

I'm 32w5d, still going strong! Had an ultrasound yesterday (just routine check for growth) and won't hear anything until my OB appointment tomorrow but got to see them chilling out in there! They're both still head down which I'm grateful for and I don't think Twin A has "dropped" yet. They both seem so high up and are crowding my lungs and stomach.

I had my shower on the weekend and now feel so much better prepared, but I'm still determined to make it to 38 weeks! I'll handle the pains and discomfort if it means they can cook as long as possible :)
  • @JDBtwinmama - that's great that they've stayed put! Good luck!

I know that @keshakdavis delivered, come check in about how you and the babies are doing!

I am 30 weeks today and have put on about 40 pounds, so I feel super heavy but I'm still working out almost every day. But I kind of need to take a taxi for just a few blocks.

I had a sonogram today where they measured my cervix (4 cm) and checked for FFN, so they aren't concerned about anything happening for at least the next 2 weeks when they check again.

And they are both vertex! Yay! Though I guess they can still flip around again. I hope they cooperate and stay put!
  • Hi y'all!
I am 30w4d :) we had an appointment on Monday with my OB but they didn't do anythjng except check heartbeats. Which they didnt tell me what those were :( not very impressed with my regular OB and staff.. but i have an appointment with the Perinatologist next Tuesday. He has me on bedrest due to shortening of the cervic........and let me tell ya, I get bored out of my mind. So I have ordered coloring books, sudoku and puzzle books, just to keep myself busy. But whatever is best for my girls :) they have given me 2 rounds of steriod shots to help the girls' lungs. We're thinking they'll be here around Christmas. I'll be about 35-36 weeks. But I would love it if they came in Jan. But just like @Theliops said, i'll take this discomfort a little longer, for healthy babies :)
I hope everyone is doing great! :)
  • @emmalc16 congratulations! So happy to hear you and the babies are doing better. That must have been a really difficult few days for you; I am glad they are behind you. And just remember that soon you will have forever with them! What are their names/ birth weights? I am glad everyone else is doing well. I am trucking along at 29 weeks. Some days I think I am going to make it all the way to the end and others I feel like there is just no way. I am so grateful for this check in and these babies growing inside me. We are all so lucky.

  • @emmalc16 I'm so happy to hear little ones are doing well! And that you've recovered enough that you can see them!

Also I'm glad to hear everyone is doing well! Let's keep these babies cooking!
  • Where are all of you planning on having the babies sleep?  In their cribs? In the room with you? If in the room, in what? Will they share a pack and play/bassinet? Separate rock n plays?

  • @happyandhopeful3 we got a pack and play that had twin bassinets in te top. Babies will stay in there at night and hopefully nap in cribs during the day. I'm going to try and have them sleep in a variety of places so when it's time to move them out of our bedroom it might not be so hard. Also, I already told my husband if we have trouble sleeping with babies in our room, they need to go to their cribs. We need to make sure we both have enough sleep!
  • @JBDtwinmama I literally just added that product to my Amazon cart! I like that plan a lot.

  • @happyandhopeful3 We've got two cribs set up in the bedroom right next to ours. We don't have the room in our room for a pack and play or bassinets. For the first few weeks (maybe?) we might put them in the same crib, but we'll see how that goes...

We've also got a pack and play for the main floor for maybe daytime naps. Or maybe they'll nap in their cribs upstairs? Haven't figured that out yet. We've got options!
  • @keshakdavis and @Kelley421 congrats on your little ones! It sounds like you're some tough mamas and you've got some tough little ones! I will be thinking about you and hoping the babies come home soon!
  • @keshakdavis and @Kelley421 congratulations on your babies! I am so thrilled to hear how well you are all going.

@happyandhopeful3 thank you! Their details...ames are Kyriakos (Jack) Isiah born 11:43am at 1.870kg and 42cm. Theodosia (Sula) Rose born 11:44am at 1.730kg and 45cm.

As for sleeping arrangements for home, I have 2 cots and a pack/play all in their boxes haha we have absolutely nothing organised and may even be moving house before babies come home. Wishing I got more done before I was put on bed rest originally but oh well!!
  • @mg137 thanks for lurking! My doctors recommended the same thing!
  • @keshakdavis we talked on here a bit when stuff got pretty rough on me. Congrats to you and the rest of us january moms that have delivered. My girls came in a whirlwind on November 10th vaginal delivery 2.4 and 2.14 both were 14 inches long. I posted a thread about it. They are doing well. Both still on Billie lights as of today because they were both off of them for a day. 1 was taking off all breathing assistance the other is on 3.0 high flow both only get caffeine once a day and IV fluids. We check Temps change diapers and do kangaroo care. Yesterday the doctor said she wouldn't be surprised if they move to the non critical side of the nicu nursery. I even taught myself to use a loom to make thwm little hats and I'm slowly trying to learn to crochet. They say to use my 40 week due date as a go home date so mine is 1/25. I'm 3 hours away from home at a Ronald McDonald house. The husband is returning to work on monday so I will remain here until the girls can go home.
