POAS woes

So I'm 12 weeks now, and I still have 16 positive pregnancy tests on my dresser! They have dust on them! I don't want to throw them out, or put them away... or move them at all, it might be bad luck! Anyone else having this trouble? Do I keep them all? What are you ladies doing with yours?

Re: POAS woes

  • Wait are they used? I threw away all the ones I used after taking a picture. The unused ones I still have, but they are sitting in the bathroom cabinet. If we decide to go for baby 4 then they will still be good, if not I'll donate them to my SIL because she's going to be trying soon.

I peed on every stick I could find until I finally believed I was pregnant!

I do have left over ovulation kits though.. May use them after LO is born to see when I start ovulating again.

ETA: used ones belong in the trash- unless you keep one for a baby book

Yeah they are used, I was a serial tester till about 8 weeks lol it was a problem legit!

    Edited for word choice
  • I also threw all of my used ones out after I took a picture, because I'm obsessive like that. All my unused are in the bathroom. They have an expiry date of 2017 so maybe I'll need them again before, or maybe I'll give them away. But yeah, used ones belong in the garbage IMO lol.

  • Oh I totally understand this. I bought a value-sized pack of Wondfos the month of my BFP because I'm old and I assumed I would be in TTC land for a long haul. That was 20 HPTs and 50 OPTs... I used none of the OPTs (I bought the pack AFTER I O'd) and 2 of the HPTs. I've put the rest away in the back of the bathroom drawer, just in case I have a friend who wants them. There's also a SLIGHT chance I may TTC #2 before they expire, but I'm trying not to get ahead of myself there :)

  • Yea, I'm going to agree with @DeePaddy24 used tests belong in the trash. The thing is soaked in pee....take a picture and toss them.

  • I had such bad ms at the beginning that the sight of my tests made me nauseous. I threw them away. I only had one pack of two digital that said "pregnant". The second one I took a video of it changing to "pregnant" and I have a couple of pictures.

I totally understand how you are worried about moving them due to bad luck. You can do whatever you want, but you will receive a lot of flack on here if you state that you are going to keep them. If they don't bother you, then leave them where they are. No reason to stress about getting rid of them if they don't bother. At some point you may decide to get rid of them and if not you can always create a pregnancy shadow box that houses a couple tests, ultrasounds, the first onesie or a teeny newborn diaper. I think whatever you choose to do is fine, but it seems like most women toss them.

Maybe I will take a picture of my stash.... and save the darkest one for a baby book @CopperLane and then finally let go of the rest! I think it will be cathardic maybe, like letting go of my worries.... Or at least some of them ;)

Nope, chuck it.  Please don't save anything that has excrement or waste matter on it sitting around.

    *lurking*

FTFY. Please don't pee on the Wheaties.

    Thank you! Yes serial lol
I think maybe I should try to do more lurking and less posting!
  • @ Incandescent. Just do whatever makes you happy girl. If keeping them does that, then go for it! I have mine in my baby book.
  • I'm yeah toss them. I kept mine for like a week cause I was in disbelief And then they started to smell. Trash they went.
  • Well I kept my first positive test from each baby. I'm actually not super sentimental or anything, so I doubt that keeping a test is that unusual. I don't mind that it's been peed on. (I put the cap over the pee area and cleaned the rest of the test, so it's not dirty!) Besides, urine is generally sterile. Do whatever makes you happiest!
  • I put mine (CBE) in a ziplock bag while I tried to decide if I should keep it, but the word "pregnant" had disappeared by the next day so I tossed it. At least I had taken a picture!

  • I thought it was just a thing that happened in the movies where a woman would pee on a million tests. I have peed on exactly one per pregnancy, showed it to DH, took a picture, and then threw it away. Pretty sure you won't jinx your pregnancy by tossing them :P your unborn fetus does not care
  • I'm pretty sure urine is only sterile until it comes out of you. Then it's subject to bacteria just like everything else.
